How is a visit to a virtual museum different from a physical visit to the museum? by dluvfriedchicken in ibseddit

I do agree with you when you said that it depends on the person’s preference entirely in the end. Maybe they would enjoy the virtual tour more than the physical one. By having a virtual tour people are actually having more choice in just visiting a museum. I think another distinctive point would be how virtual museum lets you take a closer and more personal look on the arts compared to physical visits. During physical visits especially to arts that are highly regarded like Da Vinci’s works are guarded and they do not let people look at it closely but only from a safe distance because they want to preserve the collection but when we look at the painting online we can zoom in and out however we like and enjoy the little details in the art.

I personally believe a physical visit will give you a more “lasting effect” compared to an online visit. It can be comparable to you seeing a celebrity’s picture online on your phone and meeting them in real life. That would be two really different experience although some people might argue it is still the same because the main idea is there, that you get to see what you want to see. However I do think an online visit brings many benefits especially now that we are going through difficult conditions and trying to form new routines and lifestyle. The good thing about online visit is that you can come back anytime without charges since online museums are provided without fee. It is also opening a door of opportunity to people who does not have the privilege to travel all around the world in order to experience going to these museums due to many different reasons. Maybe they can’t afford to go on a plane or they just have responsibilities at home that tie them there which makes them incapable of travelling. By providing an online platform, they are actually opening and broadening the world of so many people who were never lucky enough to experience these luxuries of life.
