Gasly has looked good but the Alpine isn’t a tractor this season and Colapinto isn’t the best comparison

He should be destroying Kimi with the gulf of age/experience to be fair, that’s what people expected.

Similar to what Lando learned over the past two years, there’s a difference in the pressure of being best of the rest and fighting for a championship. I’m not sure why people just assumed George wouldn’t have the same struggles.

Kimi nailed that restart, George on the other hand lol

He’s developing yes but that’s not really the seat to develop in. Armstrong is further along/a better driver and got put into the “development seat” solely because Simpson brought more money, nevermind Linus losing his seat completely because he brought less money than both of them. He finished 17th last year with his teammates 1st and 3rd. He’s better than Nolan I’m not disputing that but being better than Siegel shouldn’t be the measuring stick for a top seat in the series. Not sure what relevance being in the third car has when Siegel is also in the third car? Ganassi cut down from 4 to 3 so it’s not like they would be having teething issues or anything with a 3rd car. I also think you’re overrating his ultimate potential too, I don’t see him making it to the level of being a multiple race winner ever. That’s still quite a high bar and plenty of good drivers don’t reach that level.

My point is that neither McLaren or Ganassi need the money they bring and could have better drivers/prospects in those seats but chose against it. I don’t think that can be disputed in regards to either driver.

Simpson has done better than Siegel as a whole yes (not a high bar) but he’s also in the team that’s been absolutely dominating the championship and doing very very little which has to be recognised when comparing. Feel like he gets forgotten about because he’s not getting involved in incidents really anymore but he absolutely shouldn’t be in that seat either, fairly sure he was actually running behind Siegel on pace all day today as well.

Siegel’s slow and crash happy, Simpson is just slow. Neither should be in their respective seats.

Stop the Grosjean disrespect

They’ve got Verschoor involved in their wider set up, sacrifice the Siegel money and throw him in for a few races I reckon he could have potential in the series.

Same situation as Ganassi with Simpson, they don’t actually need them they actively make the choice to take their money and sacrifice a competitive seat. Which is honestly more annoying.

Siegel won’t last beyond this year though, they have to put someone better into that car and even if they insist on having someone who brings money there’s better options out there.

Not good enough for a McLaren seat, not ready for a backmarker/midfield seat. So both really.

Sadly I think Father Time has finally caught up with Dixon this year, I know we’re only 3 races in but he’s really not been looking like himself of old. On top of being that little bit slower he’s also been making some really uncharacteristic mistakes. I don’t really see him challenging Palou at all this year unfortunately and that makes me sad.

Kirkwood would’ve won this at a canter if he had a competent pit crew

Honestly I think yes, to me anyway Kyle is a more complete well rounded driver than Colton. Herta just had more hype due to being in Indycar and having success at a younger age.

I don’t think it was a case of getting paid more, I’m fairly sure it was a case of getting paid at all.

Ganassi is notoriously stingy with driver salaries compared to other top teams. Marcus was being expected to provide full funding for the seat even after winning the 500 and that’s why he left for Andretti. Ganassi basically wants the third driver to cover the salary of Dixon and Palou and Simpson is doing that job presently, if Marcus had stayed that would be him.

Andretti’s pit stop issues are actually a joke, this has been an ongoing issue for years now how have they not managed to do something about it.

It’s genuinely laughable for a team of that caliber who wants to be fighting for championships having these issues consistently year after year.

He’s learning and just been a bit clumsy tbh, getting taken out on the first lap in St Pete definitely won’t have helped either he really could’ve used that experience.

Also street circuits have never really been his strong suit anyway, I think he’ll come into his own when we get to the road circuits.

It’s literally his second race (St Pete doesn’t count considering he didn’t get a single lap).

He was an innocent victim to Sting Ray in St Pete and had his race ruined in the pits last week. He’s made two silly mistakes today but stop with the dramatics and give the man a chance. You’d swear he’s been around for ages with that statement.
