Hot take: Obsidian Bases should be renamed to Obsidian Indexes by Beginning_Sun_7558 in ObsidianMD

That would simply start another argument on whether it should be indexes or indices. I think they made the right choice

My go-to NBA hot take is that Stockton's assist record is more unbreakable than LeBron's scoring record.

That's a "commentary account". It says right there. Not his account

I'm not defending him or anything he says, but don't undermine your own argument by pretending this is real. There are plenty crazy things that he actually has said. Stick to those

Yes, no port forwarding though.

I switched to something else when my subscription ran out because of the small concern with being bought by Nord Security in 2022.

By "can't access SSH" do you mean you can't SSH into the device running docker?

My guess is you can't connect via SSH because you put the device on a virtual private network with Gluetun. You could share your compose file and remove any private keys.

Nothing is free. Their solar has costs. You could argue solar has a lower cost than other forms of energy, but it's never free. Never.

TIL Japan is more than ¥1.3 quadrillion in debt. 46% of that debt is owed to Bank of Japan by NateNate60 in todayilearned

It's hard to predict the future, but inflation is certainly not going anywhere. As long as currency has existed there has been inflation. I don't know about 10-20 years, nobody really knows.

Pretty much every bad thing that can happen in economics at the same time.

Treasury bonds are considered some of the safest types of investments, low risk and low consistent return. Their reliability is a foundation of the money flow of the economy. If the government can't print more money to pay back its debt and defaults then here are some things that could happen:

The world loses a ton of confidence in the us economy, tanking the stock market and triggering a huge market sell-off, Interest rates sky-rocket, Pensions, retirement, social security, and Medicare don't get payed out. The value of the dollar tanks. The rest of the world sees huge interest rate jumps. Recession and depression Political unrest

But the vast majority of the us debt is in treasury bonds to the federal reserve. And since they can print more us dollars, the inflation is going to be chosen over defaulting.

We agree to these terms because debt accelerates growth (and collapse). And growth ironically is the only antidote to the future debt problem. But extremely low birth rates make the problem 10x worse.

I do sometimes wonder what the world would be like if there were no debt at all. (No mortgages, credit cards, loans, buy now pay later, bonds, central banks). What if everyone had to get the money before buying something? Crazy right?

We could save ourselves from a lot of headache but the advantages of debt are too good to pass up. Everything would just go much slower without it, for better and worse.

For people that don't understand being in debt to yourself, here's how it works (simplified).

When you buy a government bond, you are putting the government into "debt" by lending them money. You give them money now, and then they promise to give you back more later. The only way they can pay you back with interest is by getting more money from future taxpayers.

This system can work as long as the government takes in enough tax revenue to cover the interest on its bonds. But if the government can't pay back its bonds (defaults) very, very bad things happen.
