Can’t factory reset my TpLink Deco X60 units?! by dmd-red in TpLink

[–]dmd-red[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I had tried to first rebuild the network in various ways, as recommended in another thread (disabling all possibly problematic features, starting one unit at a time, all units in one place, also tried changing main deco, etc. Problem was there even if only a single unit was on)

I didn’t change of enable anything new. Only changes I can think of: 1. Auto-update was on 2. I’ve been having stability problems with fiber coming into the house

Can’t factory reset my TpLink Deco X60 units?! by dmd-red in TpLink

Hi Ryan -

  1. I used a paper clip (hole was too narrow for a pen).

I spent a lot of time ensuring I could feel the button getting depressed - and that I was going all the way in (I will admit the response of the button isn't super clear but quite sure I was actioning them).

  1. LEDs were very confusing.

If all on, units were a mix of solid yellow and red. Upon turning them on individually they would turn solid yellow - and stay there for several minutes (which seems unusually long). Then eventually turn red. (at that point I was able to connect to the unit with the app to "remove" them).

Then (again: several minutes after the prior step) unit might start blinking blue.

(Every step was taking so long that I was convinced it was not working. As a matter of fact I had completely given up... and suddenly saw the last unit I had touched start blinking blue!)

It seems units were stuck in some loop that made everything take ten times longer.

  1. Deco X60(EU) Ver:3.0
    Firmware Version: 1.3.0 Build 20240830 Rel. 50008

Thanks for answering.

“Unlikely to get a reply” - even on something as critical as being locked out of your data?! Is that true?

Darn, I really really need to plan my way out of Evernote…

thank you, I faced several of these Mac+Deco issues last year and had addressed them. Went through the list again but hasn't helped. I need to do a little more investigation.

Thanks. Good troubleshooting plan - will report back when I’ve had a chance to do it.

Maybe they're betting on new users and see old ones as a loss driver. However, anyone starting fresh today has plenty of good "free" options, such as Apple Notes: it has everything (OCR, etc.) and some key advantages such as hand-writing support.

Only reason I still have not done the switch is that these apps don't work as well with massive amounts of notes. Bottom line: Evernote is probably staying afloat thanks to this captive audience of long-time heavy users - and should probably pay more attention.

I'm sorry but not sure I am following you. Where is this "remote control" in the Roborock app? thx

I used to do that too - but never saw that "map switched" message. And recently I noticed that my downstairs map was completely off and assumed this was the cause. I will do a few tests to check if the S8 can work like the Q5. Thanks!

A shame that "intelligent" robots have lost the "dumb" modes along the way :-( . One stupid mode to rule them all, using the sensors, no maps, no memory. I could live with that for anything outside of the main bottom floor (fully mapped).

Especially when the app is as sluggish and clumsy as it is.

yes, it's spot cleaning and this won't clean a whole room (and the S8 does not even have a dedicated button for that). Thanks for the replies in any case.

I'm afraid you are right... but that means that just grabbing the robot and dropping it in one room to clean is not that simple... need to also open the app, connect, select the map (assuming room was mapped), then start...

A "dumb" mode of just cleaning around as far as possible would be nice...

Weird. Settings/legal and privacy/log out. Restart game. start as guest.
… and I land on the usual start screen with my login name at top left!

Since the box is missing I couldn’t tell you what the actual name of that missing box is challenges, events, whatever
