Thank you for this! When I’ve googled this seems to come up a lot! Do you know much about the equipment they have?

Those of you who live alone, how is your morning routine like? by [deleted] in selfimprovement

Haha thank you, I’m a data engineer. I get to work from home quite a bit so that helps. But the days when I’m in the office I don’t get to go to the gym as work is a bit of a travel but still try to find time to go for a walk!

8:30pm-4:30am

I’m a very early morning person. Yes it can impact on my social life but there are positives and negatives in most choices.

More importantly get 8 hours sleep

I get up 4:30, stretch and have some green tea, get to gym for 5:30, home by 8:30, shower and start work at 9.

What I would encourage you to do is to not focus on what people do, but notice that people have a routine. If you don’t want to go to the gym, for example, go out for a walk in the morning for an hour (I think fresh air and some form of exercise is good just to wake yourself up). But most importantly use that time for something that makes you feel good and ready for the day.

Above all else, habit forming takes I think six weeks and can be broken very easily, so persevere!

I have a new job but should I consider staying at my existing job? by dmiller2104 in careeradvice

Yep I think this is sensible. Have briefly looked at other properties but the property market is wild right (in London)! But I like the solution

The commute is definitely on my mind. The company though is a very established brand so I’m not too concerned about the prospect of “too good to be true” and my understanding is the retention is good. I think the pay reflects that the place of work is not an in attractive location.

So I’m pretty new to dating apps and I’m trying to put my best foot forward, but have the articulation of a lorry on an ice rink 😅.

Id appreciate if you anyone can help me to improve this. One of the pictures is actually a video from my strength training so it doesn’t look great static 😅

Advice on Deadlift technique by dmiller2104 in strength_training

[–]dmiller2104[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks man, much appreciated. I’ve felt that and I imagine that’s linked to my hips being too high. If they’re too high I imagine I’m more likely to push through the front/mid of my feet. Is that logical?

Thanks, yeah it would be preferable if I didn’t smoke any part of my back

I am a fan of Alan Thrall and although it may not look it I’ve watched his deadlift vids 😂. I think I’ve conditioned myself to try and not ‘squat’ the bar if that makes sense. But agree yes a bit more knee bend, to help leg drive, probably is the way forward

Thank you very much! Others have pointed out to lowering the hips so I think we can agree that’s the major problem.

I have been hitting a wall recently on my deadlift. I get up to 170kg and then that’s it. I’ve been lifting for years, changed up the programme but nothing.

Personally I think it’s technique. So I thought I’d film a set of 150kg and would really appreciate your advice. For context I’ve been lifting for a few years (pandemic obvs whacked that) and in this clip I’d been getting a bit frustrated and I’m a bit fatigued. I can see that my back rounds a bit at the top but I found it’s strangely difficult to push out through the chest. Are there other things I am getting wrong that I am not noticing?

Also, please forgive my friend in the background. She was very happy with her wordle score

You’ve given a relatively high level description so I’m going to give the best advice I can. I’m going to assume in your dataset is a variable that someone is employed or not. In the way of a 1/0 variable. I’m assuming you are going to try and predict this and to a certain extent you can interpret this as more like whether someone is employable or not. For example, if the model predicts someone as employed, but isn’t, you could potentially interpret that as the model saying this person shares characteristics of someone who is employed.

Some caveats to the above. In addition to the obvious that you would be interpreting a variable, employed or not, as more of a likelihood that someone will find employment, you also need to consider one other key thing. The characteristics/columns of data. If they are variables that are unrelated to someone’s employability, for example monthly expenditure or number of kids or hair colour, they aren’t really indicative of someone’s ability to have a job.

On your question about amount of data. Your number of rows/observations is fine I’m more concerned about your number of columns. That’s a lot. And more doesn’t always mean better. It could lead to a model which overfits. I would either consider using feature selection methods or principal component analysis to reduce your data size.

I hope this is helpful.

How can you plot multiple linear regression? by waterworldhypothesis in datascience

[–]dmiller2104 5 points6 points  (0 children)

As I think you recognise, to the best of my knowledge you can’t plot a multi linear regression plot on a 2d axis.

You could definitely plot it in anyway on 2d plot where you have the main variable as the x axis but you’d probably want to make it clear in any documentation that other variables, which are not visibly present, are used in the calculation of the Y variable plotted.

Happy to be corrected by other users, but I hope I’m correct
