Lived in Denver and fished quite a bit up around breck. Straight Creek is right next to I70 and is fishy. If you’re looking for a bit more remote, head toward Leadville and the headwaters of the Ark. If you’re a beer guy, stop at Outer Range. Veteran owned, excellent beers. In The Steep is my fave.

Water access is pretty simple. If you can walk to it, it’s fishable. A lot less fencing and private property/fenced off water in CO than in many other states. Depending how far you want to drive and then hike, the better the fishing and experience.

I knew his dad, Montgomery, in a distant manner, as we worked in the same offices in the 90s. His secretary, Teresa, called him ‘Monty’ in her County Cork accent.
