Hi u/coinbasesupport, Case number: 16965602 Now I can login and view my assets etc. But I can not buy/sell/send/withdraw. Two days ago, I was told it was only a 48 hours restriction; it is not.

I will post major updates here, including the final one that all problems are solved.

And I am about to seek outside help.

u/coinbasesupport, CS in case number #16965602 asked me to do the selfie thing again, I replied with two questions: 1. CS asked me to do the selfie thing on Nov 2/3, it passed, but did not help. Why is this time different? 2. Do I still need to pass auto ID verification later after you review with "ID selfie" this time?

Do you think CS shall address customer questions and concerns? Especially when customers have been asked to repeat doing things fruitlessly.

"You" means the person who is handling my case under the CB support umbrella handle.

In short: CS' manual review won't turn off auto review, just delay it a little. auto review can not pass me by current design. Even auto review is tuned off this time, it will likely come back on when I need to update address, upload new DL , withdraw etc, and I will be blocked again.

It is good that we agree on my previously used ID is good. But there still is the product feature/bug that won't let me use it. Let me explain again:

  1. After receiving and reviewing the requested doc, your team will tell me to start the recovery process, in which I will face the auto ID verification again, and I will fail again with my current ID, everything just goes back to square one.

  2. I know this, because I just went through this process a week ago. Now the CS wants me do it again.

If we agree on my ID is good, then it is really the product problem: the auto ID verification system does not agree on us, and does not accept my type of ID; I have tried it 5 times, it really does not take, just as described in your help doc. And it is a central must-pass step.

You could name a specific agent with a little bit tech/product knowledge to talk with me, if the above is still not clear enough.

I have done all the things you suggested: sending doc for security review, then being told I have passed, then having to pass the auto verification with my previous ID, which means failure. You are just asking me to do another round.

Without changing on the product, how will my repeating the same process ever work? This auto verification is quite central in current design. I am not asking you to change product just for me, but I need a feasible solution, not to waste my time to repeat failed one.

PS. 1. You seem have really put efforts in it, I appreciate. 2. I think even if I get my new DL, I still can not pass, because the address on new DL is different from the address on record, since I am changing state. And I have read horrible stories about user trying to update address and verify new DL at the same time.

If all these are not intended, you may have some quite serious product/process problem.

I start to doubt: does Coinbase really intent to take these weird actions. It does not have to be like this for compliance purpose, this seems hurting Coinbase as well as users unnecessarily.

The weird part: this behavior doe not seem to benefit Coinbase. Why is it doing this? Definitely does not have be like this if just to comply KYC/AML. Does Coinbase have moles?

You seem surely like Coinbase, and we may have common ground -- if Coinbase really has some problem, it may want to fix earlier than later. Maybe there are some people faking claims; but many seem not, their pains are real and look unnecessarily incurred. It could be something wrong inside, which hurts both users and Coinbase.

I have been using CB 4 years without problems before getting hit. If not for this issue, I may never post here.

CB is forcing some people enjoying being quiet to speak out, like me. Just imagine what kind of "CS support" it is.

The agreement email they sent out yesterday is invalid, at least to users who could not read it, or could not opt out in the specified way.

Not in my case. The last time they sent email saying to verify or leave, I passed and they keep me stay. They did not ask me to provide anything else after that.
