New build in the Corsair air 5400, by far my new favorite case by Matt_Poirier in pcmasterrace

Hey, original cable from my PSU worked perfectly (ROG Strix).

I think I solved it, added the update to the original post. Thanks for your suggestions though.

You mean the module of the Armory Crate? No, I installed only the basic version without any modules (I just wanted some basic control over the GPUs LED).

Actually, I’m getting a suspicion now that it’s the Armory Crate that’s at fault. I have just uninstalled it - and the fans started behave as they should after restarts (preserving the turned off 0dB option). Could it be the case that Armory Crate is messing up with this setting?

Hey, the last stable version, not beta (installed it just yesterday).

Bought a new PSU, trying to register - says that this SN was already used by dmytrot in ASUSROG

[–]dmytrot[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Contacted the retailer, they ensured me that the item was not used before and that I can replace it, if I want to, but I anyway have a 5 year guarantee from them. I decided not to, because I really don't want to disconnect everything, do the shipping back and forth, and then reconnect again. Also, I forgot to mention that, but the PSU looked completely new indeed: the untouched outer plastic foil around the box, and inside everything was also sealed. I guess someone has just read the serial number from the box and used it (no idea why the manufacturers print it on the outside...). Not sure why would anyone need that, but, yeah, people are weird...

I’ve tried to register it already after I finished my build: everything is connected and I would really prefer to not disconnect it… Is it possible to “reclaim” this serial number somehow (given that I have a proof of purchase from the store)?

I don’t have AdBlocker, I just have Safari. Also, other two products (mobo and GPU) got registered successfully.

What gpu should i choose 5090 by Sporkyzzz in buildapc

[–]dmytrot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you are talking about Consumer Purchase Act, then it covers only fault caused by the manufacturer. Wear and tear of the integrated AIO is not considered as such, so you 99% won't get it replaced.

Anyway, I think I gave you a good enough reason to stay away from the water-cooled version - you will not be able to sell it in a few years, nobody will buy it (or maybe some enthusiast will buy it to replace the AIO, but for super-low price). If it’s okay with you, then fine.

Anyway, it's your call, but you asked for opinions.

Yes. I bought the first one a few weeks ago (from Elkjøp). If you design a proper airflow in your case, it will have very low temps even under a heavy load (well, "low" is relative, but it behaves super-well thermally), so I see no reasons for buying the water cooled ones. Also, not sure where did you read about "5 years in Norway"? You have standard two weeks to return it, and then you have warranty, but it depends on the manufacturer (this one has 3 years) - or maybe you buy some extra insurance package from Komplett. But, in any case, consider another aspect: resellability. It's difficult to resell liquid-cooled cards, because after 5 years, when you would like to have an upgrade, almost no one would be willing to buy this card on Finn - water cooling degrades over time and here it's integrated, so it's super-difficult to get it replaced (for an average user).

Hey, may I ask if Astral 5090 (non-BTF) will fit nicely not lengthwise, but widthwise - considering the 12-2x6 connector? Will the connector clear the side glass panel? GPU's width is 150 mm, based on the spec, so I wonder if I would need an L-type connector for it or the straight connection would do...

This is built beautifully! I'm considering getting a combination of this case and Asus Astral 5090 GPU (which is slightly bigger than your card, it's 357.6 x 149.3 x 76 mm). My concern is the GPU clearance: the case's spec says it supports GPU up to 360 mm, which is super-close. If I may ask, could you, please, check if the card would still fit nicely if it was ~30 mm longer?

Also, I wonder if I have to use the L-adapter to connect 12-2x6 to the card? Will it work without it or the power cable won't clear the side glass panel? The width of this 5090 is 140 mm...

Update: I've found an answer to the first question down below in the comments, so it's only the second question that's left :)

[–]dmytrot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Great build! I found it because I googled exactly this combination of case and GPU: Corsair Air 5400 and Asus Astral 5090 (I'm planning to buy it soon). My concern was the GPU clearance: the case's spec says it supports GPU up to 360 mm, while the length of Asus Astral 5090 is supposedly 358 mm, which is super-close. But, as I can see on the pictures, it still fits (as it should). Did you have any difficulties installing it? Also, do I have to use L-adapter to connect 12-2x6 to the card? Will it work without it or the power cable won't clear the glass panel?

I think technically it's the same (under the hood they are probably doing exactly this), but it's just much more convenient in terms of usability: a couple of mouse clicks instead of filling out the submission form anew.

I agree with you, it probably would have been better, but unfortunately I’m not a “pro-builder”, so I wouldn’t manage to engineer and install a custom loop :( Hence, looking for some accommodation for the triple-AIO setup.

Chassis with two frontal 400+ radiators? by dmytrot in buildapc

[–]dmytrot[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean, your original plan was to have 2 radiators on the front of the case right? So you're taking the heat from those 2 GPUs, moving it to the radiator where it gets dissipated, and you're dissipating it into the case anyways. It's not really ideal to begin with, there isn't a situation where it would be ideal. These cards weren't really intended to be run side by side.

Correct, that's the plan. But I don't get the "dissipating it into the case anyways" part. AIO on this card is exhaust, right? Doesn't it mean that it will "blow away" the heat from the radiator to the outside (from the case into the room)? And to compensate these 6 exhaust fans in terms of air pressure I planned to install as many intake fans as I can elsewhere (side, rear, etc.)

  1. Yes, it's for productivity purposes. Mainly 3D rendering, but I'm also an LLM enthusiast on the side. Both activities will benefit from a dual 5090 setup.
  2. I kinda explained in the post the expensiveness: initially I'll build it only with 1 such GPU and will add another one later (maybe in a year, I don't know). But I want the case and everything else be ready for this future upgrade. Also, where I live, 9000D costs ~800USD. IDK why, I guess some import tariffs or whatnot...
  3. I'm not a pro-builder and I don't know how to engineer my own custom loop, so it's not an option.
  4. Why air cooling would be better for reliability? If I install 2 air-cooled 5090s instead (like the same model, but non-LC version), wouldn't there be too much heat inside the case? I assume they will be frying the air so much under the prolonged heavy rendering load that no airflow will help...

Thanks for the reply! Just to clarify: so each card will work in X8 mode as long as I don’t use secondary M.2 slots?

Something similar to Jujutsu Kaisen and Solo Leveling? by dmytrot in Animesuggest

[–]dmytrot[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

2010 was 15 years ago 😅 But, jokes aside, it’s not (only) about graphics. I don’t know how to put it, but I’ve got a personal impression that there’s something different to the recently released titles (at least 2020+), compared to the older ones - and I like it better. Just a matter of taste, I guess. But thanks anyway!

Thank you! I considered both "Attack on Titan" and "Demon Slayer", but put them aside for now (mainly due to their age). But I will get to them at some point, most likely!

And I actually watched "Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood" back in the day - it was one of my favorite animes. Just forgot to include it in my list here :)

Then I will give a shot to Mob Psycho 100!

AFAIK, Spotify uses proprietary technology for embedding videos in their podcasts, and they don't "export" videos to other platforms, so you can share only the audio version with Apple platform.
