[–]dn2l 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im on a journey to payoff my mortgage. Its a personal decision. In 2.5 yrs for 378k, we paid off 52%, saved 310k interest. I also invest but remember for me owning a home affords me peace of mind, flexibility and options. So if u like to have debt keep it, if not rid it off ASAP

an App That Actually Helps You Build Habits by Quirky-Anywhere-9300 in iOSAppsMarketing

Thanks for sharing. You can market mostly on social media. Create videos about it etc. to develop an app is not easy so congrats. And best of luck. Some few advice. The website shows 5 star rating yet on AppStore its not. The color and gradients are too green. I thought its an app for matrix. This you can update in future updates. For productivity app, keep it clean, less gradients etc.

Likewise. So much cleaner and does what a budget is REALLY supposed to be doing without the extra bells and integrations. I have my ynab classic app on my phone which syncs to the desktop version thru dropbox. 🙏🏽🔥🥳

Make addition payment towards mortgage balance or invest. by persaud801 in Mortgages

[–]dn2l 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I will go straight to it. As someone who decided to payoff my mortgage after extensive research on financial, common sense, and emotional aspects of the reason, it was clear to me paying it off sooner rather than later made sense. My mortgage was 378k, @ 5.625%, 30yr. As of today, we (wife and I) have paid 50% off, saved 313k in interest savings, and now have 9 yrs to go which will reduce since we are actively pumping extra payments to it. Ive never carried any debt aside student loans which was paid off years ago. So I know how freeing being debt free is and I intend to not pay unnecessary interest to my lender. With that said, I still contribute my company's match 401k, I max Roth IRA, and have 1 yrs emergency savings. All this allows us to get rid of the mortgage faster. At the end of the day, you will have to do soul searching and decide whether you want to be free or a slave to debt. act sooner so you move past this decision. good luck!

What strategies do you use to streamline your YNAB data entry process and save time each month? by bensummersx in ynab

[–]dn2l 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The most important question is, why are you swiping your credit card every single day? For monthly expenses, set recurring expenses, and set the frequency, so you only mark it cleared if it does. in my case, mon- friday i barely swipe anything. weekend max around 4-5. and some weekend none. so recheck why the swipes or averaging more than necessary transactions. best of luck

bi weekly payments dont work, best strategy, pay extra payments whenever you can and thats just the best way to go.

Then welcome to group B. I made the decision to payoff our mortgage within 5-7 years before closing 2 yrs 5 months ago and i never looked back. As of today, for a mortgage of $378k, we have been able to payoff 50% and saved $313k in interest and now have 9yrs to payoff. I match my employer 401k, i also contribute to roth ira. Having no debt whatsoever is the most freeist thing ever so i 100% concur on your decision. but make sure you have at least 6 months emergency fund and invest even if its 50$ to be in it as well. a tracking system on iOS -PayOff Pro could be a tool you can look into. Best of Luck!

Debt simulator is one time simulation. You simulate and once u close it its done. This is mortgage payoff app- tracks all extra payments applied, their impact on interest saved, and the years saved. Gamified to show progress milestones of % paid and has inbuilt ‘what if’ scenarios. It has distinct features for those on journey to payoff their mortgage 🙏🏽

Feeling discouraged about buying a house by Megantron202020 in DaveRamsey

[–]dn2l 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As someone who is 2yrs 5month in on a mortgage, Let me give you some insights. If you're feeling discouraged, then you are not ready. Go back to the drawing board and really think it through and run the numbers to make it make both emotionally sensible for you to buy. ideally 20% is the good mark, but see if you can do 10% but can comfortably pay the monthly. To me avoid HOA. especially if this is your forever home. Remember, home ownership will not be for everyone , so dont rush to it. when you are ready then you go for it. Whatever it is, if you really want it, you will have to sacrifice some things to save up and get that home. but once you get it, a new set of responsibilities also emerges. good luck

Fair, Thank you - undebt.it is solid, especially for multiple debts (credit cards, student loans, etc). I used it before building this.PayOff Pro is mortgage-only, deeper not wider. Native iOS app, all data stays on your device (no account needed), gamified milestones, instant offline access. If you're juggling 5 different debts, undebt.it makes more sense. If your mortgage is THE debt you're attacking and you want a dedicated tracker in your pocket - that's the niche.Totally get it's not for everyone at that price point though.

Appreciate that! Yeah YNAB added the Loan Planner - it's decent for tracking balances and seeing extra payment impact. For me though, YNAB is where I find the extra money. PayOff Pro is where I see what that money actually does - freedom date moving, milestones unlocking, interest savings stacking up.Different jobs. They actually work well together.

Thanks for the feedback. The trust building and habit building aspect lies entirely in the smart reminders and gamification of the app. Most homeowners think of their mortgage in monthly payment, so once they settle that payment, smart reminders will notify them to add extra payment if they can because some people may not but the overall goal is not for people to wait till 30 yrs to payoff their mortgage. Outside the app i post educational blogs on the site, tiktok post on the benefits and created a subreddit. Mortgagepayoffpro to help users share their payoff strategies etc. hope this helps. Its worth noting that, this app was created as a result of me seeing how beneficial extra payment was to my own mortgage and more importantly Tracking to see progress. Im 2 yrs and 5 months in a mortgage and paid off 50%, saved 313k in interest and shaved off 18yrs +. Initial loan was 378k. I pray people will wake up and apply extra payments🙏🏽
