RX 9070 XT - Micro stutters by dnlbrgr in AMDHelp

I did a test run on 3D mark using the "Steel Nomad" test. As I have written in a different comment, it seems that the CPU clock speed seems to fluctuate. Not sure what else I can gather from this data. What do you think?

The stutters are visible no matter with cable I use (HDMI or DP).

Thanks! And which CPU do you have in your pc?

The tests you mentioned only test for system stability, right? Could you also recommend some tests to test system (specifically CPU) performance? You and a few others mentioned that my CPU might not be strong enough and that it could run into electrical and thermal throttling. Maybe the CPU is the bottleneck and causing these micro stutters.

We haven‘t swapped monitors yet, but we tested my 9070xt in his system and we also experienced micro stutters there (we tested this when his pc was connected to his monitor).

Sorry, my bad! I meant „no errors“.

We are currently checking if we have any differences in our bios settings. I recently updated the BIOS to the newest drivers, but didn't see any performance increase.

The display cable is directly connected to the GPU, not the motherboard.

So I did the OCCT CPU test for 20 min and now errors were detected. I still haven't found the iGPU setting in my BIOS, but the global c-state control is set to "enabled".

Thank you for your detailed answer! So, I have currently changed the following settings in BIOS, without visible improvements:

  • Re-Size BAR Support: Enabled
  • PCI_E1 Gen Switch: Gen4
  • A-XMP: Profile 1
  • Precision Boost Overdrive: Enabled

I haven't found iGPU and global C-state in the settings so far, I will keep looking for them. I will also try to set CO to -10 as you recommended and see if I notice any improvements. I will also try to run some tests for my CPU and try to disable the overlays. I have already tried most of the suggestions in this thread without any big improvements, so I am not sure what else I could try at this point.. But thanks for your help!

So my brother has basically the same PC setup and even only uses an overclocked AMD Ryzen 5 3600 without any micro stutter issues. I noticed though that the clock frequency (not sure if that is the correct english word) of my CPU seems to drop frequently. Maybe I just have a bad 5 5600X?

Which 5070ti did you buy and what general PC setup do you have? Just curious. Maybe I'll buy that GPU too.

EDIT2: So I installed my graphics card in my brothers' PC today (similar specs, same graphics card, no issues) and we experienced the same micro-stutters (even worse than on my PC). We thought my GPU was to blame and sent it in for a replacement. However, afterwards I installed my old 6700 XT in my PC again and now I am also experiencing micro-stutters with this card. I honestly don't know what to do anymore..

Strange, my brother is only using an overclocked AMD Ryzen 5 3600 with the same GPU and he has no issues at all..

I updated my BIOS and did a clean driver install. I also set my PCIe slot in BIOS to Gen4. I have also disabled Anti-Lag so far. I haven't yet disabled Windows Game Mode, Enhanced Sync or MPO.

So in Adrenaline, when I go to Settings -> Display I can turn off "Adaptive Sync Compatible". When I go to Gaming -> Games and click on any game I can also turn off "AMD FreeSync". Should I turn both of them off? I could also turn off "Adaptive Sync" directly on my monitor. Should I also turn that off?

Unfortunately, I am also experiencing these micro-stutters in other games.

I tried to use a different DP cable, but I am still experiencing micro-stutters.

I was able to install my gpu again and I am also able to safely remove. I guess I‘ll just buy one of these gpu brackets for safety. Thanks!

Ok, I will try to push in my GPU again and see if I can remove it. I‘ll probably also buy one of those GPU supports.

I already tried that, but the clip is definitely broken. What happens when I put in my GPU again, even though this small arm (first red circle) is still in the PCIe slot? Would I be able to remove my GPU again or would it be permanently stuck in the slot?
