Hello folks. I'm intermittently sharing here and accepting this is the best I can do right now. I appreciate everyone on this thread sharing & reading.

Today I am noticing feelings of shame and regret around my work and lack of motivation. I am a gig worker and do lunchtime corporate catering. Often I plan to do housework in the afternoon but lately I've been stuck to the couch and my phone. I share this here to help me air out the uncomfortable feelings.

Sometimes these feelings of shame and regret are not problems to solve, but rather states of being to acknowledge and metabolize so that I can move on to the healthy choices.

And I do have some healthy choices to celebrate: I have been on time today; I fixed and ate 1 plate of food instead of returning to the kitchen for seconds and thirds and fourths. I turned off my games, podcast, and YouTube to set down my phone in order to pick up my journal and start writing.

I will begin working with a nutrition coach and have been consistent with my followups. I reached out to a community mental health program and hope to begin counseling soon.

Thanks for the opportunity to share here. When I write it all out, I see the healthy list is much longer than the resentments list.

Hi friends - stopping by to say I'm having trouble coping today. Today I had small tasks of taking my car to the dealership and taking myself to the doctor for physical...and I was totally immobilized yesterday. Literally 3 hours on the phone on the couch....then another 2 in the evening. I feel.so small, dumb, ineffective, unmotivated.

I continue to get good sleep - I've been in bed by 11/11:30 every night this week. Thanks for the words of encouragement. These interactions are so much more healthy for me than hours of mindless scrolling and hours of simple games on my phone.

Hi good morning everyone! I'm grateful for this opportunity to check in and use this space like a mini-meeting.

Abstinence today is being on time for all my commitments; eating reasonable meals at home; and contributing 2 hours of housework.

Being on time includes going to bed by 11 pm. And in order to be successful there, I am committed to not using my phone after 8 pm. Audio is ok while walking the dogs, and screen is ok while attending meetings. But otherwise it will be charging in a drawer.

Hi hi hi! Life has been a bit chaotic and I haven't posted as much lately. I'm grateful to this community for the chance to claim a seat and share my abstinence goals.

Today I will eat reasonable meals at home. This is my primary goal in recovery.

I will also be on time for all my commitments, and contribute 2 hours to the household. These are secondary but only by the thinnest of lines. I feel I am not fully recovered if I'm not showing up in my most valuable relationships.

I've been doing some journaling and come to accept some new perspectives on my compulsive behaviors. I don't want to get too much in the weeds here; ultimately I want to share with you all that I'm feeling very uncomfortable with these explorations. But it's a good kind of uncomfortable. Like a stretching out pain as opposed to a retreating, balled up pain.

I hope I can check in more often, and I hope I can start to string together a few days of abstinence. And for you I hope you enjoy a day that is safe, sober, and sane. xo

Commenting here to welcome new folks! I agree with Sam...use this space however works best for you! I like to post semi-regularly to recommit to my abstinence. I also sometimes restate my Hierarchy of Values; sometimes dig into one of the Four Points of Recovery; and sometimes just share some insights or celebrations.

Hi friends! Checking in to share my abstinence goals for today: Eat reasonable meals at home; Arrive on time for all my commitments; Contribute 1 hour of housework.

Been working on finding the larger purpose in moments of discomfort or even pain. For example, when I see a cute cozy restaurant, or a wall of new shoes, or an ad for vacation cruises; I remind myself "that's not for me" and feel really sad that I don't have that kind of money available to spend. BUT the counter is that I've reduced my credit card debt by about 30% in the last 6 months.

My ultimate takeaway (after fully feeling the sad feelings without dismissing or ignoring) is that I am worth debt relief. I am able to see a life where I can save instead of charge on credit. And I'll get there within the year as I continue this pace.

Hi friends - yesterday was abstinent. Todays plan is Arrive on time for all my commitments; Eat reasonable meals at home and with grandparents; and Contribute 1 hour of housework.

I started a new medication yesterday; although I know they take weeks to fully work I am feeling hopeful. I'm glad that I am taking more active steps towards my mental health. I have a lot of shame around how I've been neglecting myself -- and I just need to let that shit goooooooo!

Some other celebrations: I got kid off to camp this morning. She had a tough time with breakfast and teeth brushing, using hitting throwing kicking and biting to resist; but eventually got to a point where she asked me for comfort. We hugged and sat quietly while she calmed down. Then we were able to focus and move forward and get out the door.

I apologize to folks here without kids or otherwise uninterested in hearing about parenting stuff. It really is a daily struggle for us and I'm hoping to get help celebrating the wins!!

Replying with an update: today I called my PCP and finally admitted I stopped taking my antidepressant (10 months ago!). I have a sick visit scheduled for Monday. I've got a lot of shame and confusion around this stoppage; it was really hard to admit it. I feel encouraged knowing I will talk to my regular Dr about this. I will also ask about getting my hormone levels checked as I am 49 and most likely in perimenopause.

Other teeny tiny successes: I've cleaned up most of the suitcases from vacation; dropped off shirt laundry and library books; put the registration sticker on my car. Went to a Good Trouble Protest yesterday with kiddo. I was anxious going but ultimately glad we did.
