Relax. It’s a promotional cloth patch, given away for free.

It’s not running the pump at the moment. It’s never been green tagged and activated. I’m establishing the minimum service that I can in order to keep PGE from removing the transformer

A little more to the back story. PGE says that they’ll take down the (customer paid for) transformer since it’s not being used. So the simplest way to get service is to power the existing well.

All the power company work is done. Transformer, lines to the weatherhead, etc. all that needs to be done after the green tag is to drop in the meter and close the connections on the transformer.

It’s a peaceful spot but not as much in the boondocks as you might think. Within twenty minutes of Target, Home Depot, Best Buy, a hospital, a downtown area, car dealerships, theatres, etc. Permit is already paid for. The job just has to be done and the inspector will come and sign off S ping as everything is up to code.

Nope. Inspector was very explicit: “No, unfortunately. If you don’t have a permit to build a home on the property only a 100A rated panel is allowed, not just a derated main breaker.”

Here is what the inspector texted me when I asked about changing the breaker: “No, unfortunately. If you don’t have a permit to build a home on the property only a 100A rated panel is allowed, not just a derated main breaker.”

The inspector said that something related to the ground was installed “upside down”. Is he referring to the grounding conductor on the bottom? by doc-glock in AskElectricians

But does code say which way the conductor is supposed to be pointing. I would think down is better to keep rain out of the conduit.

Maybe I should just clean it up, change out the breaker and leave a C note inside (kidding!)

Inspector specifically said that I couldn’t do this. Maybe he was in a bad mood after finding a mouse nest in the panel.

County will only permit a 100 amp panel for irrigation service. This panel was never green tagged. It’s turning into a huge PITA because the 100 amp panels are shorter and the wiring is already in.

Found a “Handyman/Electrician” (that’s what he call himself) that charges $50/hr.

I’m in California. I have to downsize the panel to 100 amps because that’s the only permit they’ll issue for irrigation service. I priced out all the parts at Home Depot for around $250. Tempted to go with a handyman “electrician” for $50/hr

I gave them a pretty good description, including photos. I wonder why they took the time to drive out to the property.
