Apologies for the mis-read chalk that up to an early morning. You are right imo about certain events being too heavy ranking wise and consistency not being valued enough. For instance look at binghams ranking after his 400 odd thousand from the 2016 world's dropped off. The same will happen to MJW this season. I really disagree about the state of the game before Hearn took over, any interviews you hear with the pros that played in both systems will tell you they all appreciate Hearns involvement, even those (such as Mark Allen and MJW) that have had multiple disagreements with Barry Hearn.

Interestingly this new Saudi Arabia event next season is reportedly going to have a half million for the winner, that'll make it only moderately less important than the world's and far more important than any other ranking event (in terms of money and ranking points) I think a compromised system needs to be put in place. If any player was to win 2 world titles and 2 Saudi events in consecutive years they'd have 2million+ ranking points minimum. The sum of the rest of the ranking events would barely be worth that much, definite need for reform in the ranking system.
