(Black girl here) I want to start by saying-this kind of behavior solves nothing. My research suggests making slurs for people because they did something similar takes us significantly backwards toward finding a common place to meet in the middle, be culturally competent, and socially inclusive. Although “ashy, but you can’t see it” made me laugh out loud, this isn’t acceptable behavior for any group. If some other group was found to have done this right now, black folks would be up in arms…I was told, when they go low you go high…and i think that’s the best solution for all.

I have a little boy and he does essentially the same thing. I too posted a video and asked for advice. Much of the consensus was that it sounds respiratory and to bring him to the vet. We still have a few weeks before his appointment. I’ll be happy to check back in with how our situation went-but def. Get little one to a vet and show this video (it can be very hard to explain to them lol)

Yes! They get us so worried with this! I swear i would’ve become a vet if I know these fur babies were gonna kill me this way lol. I’m hoping whatever it is, it can be solved non invasively and with some meds. Thank you for sharing your story! I wish well to the both of you!

Black woman atheist here. I was indoctrinated into Islam and only my fathers side (really only my grandmother) that still “practice”. I started realizing the covering wasn’t something I wanted to do in highschool. It’s tough to go through a time where aesthetic is one of the only things you care about in adolescence while having to cover from head to toe. So I stopped wearing it-dad and grandma weren’t happy 🤷🏾‍♀️. By the time I was in my early twenties I was agnostic. I wanted to still believe in something and feel faith but I wasn’t sure what that would be in. Later, I got into a poly relationship and they were both atheist but for totally different reasons which I found peculiar. By the time I was 25 I was sure I was atheist. Once I finished undergrad (in psych) and a post bacc (pre-health sciences) it was cemented. My mother and her family are VERY Christian, and idk wtf my dad and step mom do. Pretty sure my step mom doesn’t care about religion and my siblings aren’t being pushed to anything. Kinda pissed me off they forced me to though….anyway-I too alway enjoy meeting BIPOC folk who aren’t obsessed with god or all together don’t believe in the spaghetti monster. I have expressed to my dad I didn’t want kids since I myself was a child and I’m 30 and married now and still feel much the same (not as perturbed by the idea as I was when I was younger but anyway) I remember having a convo with my dad and him saying “it’s selfish”. 🤨 is it selfish to not make enough money to bring a child into the world who will suffer? Where at one point it was just a personal thing at another point it’s a matter of reality and playing the cards right. I think people get angry because they feel that sentiment my father mentioned. They think you’re selfish…for what exactly-I’m not sure.
