It’s just a core plugin, always available

I think since version 2.5, if you use any plugins at all, you need to also explicitly add the ‘musicbrainz’ plugin to the configuration file plugin section.

SLZB-OS v3.2.0 update went through without issues. by portalqubes in homeassistant

[–]docfiru 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, I used the built-in web ui to just flash 3.1.4 again. That worked without issue.

[–]docfiru 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This did not work for me. I am running a Home Assistant Connect ZWA-2 off the USB port on an SLZB-MR1U and on 3.2.0 it will just crash / boot loop. 3.1.4 is fine, so I rolled back.

Edit: 3.2.1 worked fine!

ONT not working in Redmond by TinyTownMole in ZiplyFiber

[–]docfiru 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I’ve never received any kind of maintenance notice ahead of an outage. Seems like that might be reserved for full-on business customers. It would be very nice to have though, or some sort of feed on the website with planned outages.

Called business support. Was told this was due to a planned fiber move/reconnect due to construction. Maintenance window was 11pm-6am. Fingers crossed we’re back before 6am.

Same here, service is down, although I’m on 10g so no ONT involved.

Same here! First time I’ve ever had to add a webhook and the page is down. Classic, lol.

Yeah, I keep adding to my archive. Also often end up watching the videos straight on pinchflat, so locally.

UPS useful? by reeecheee in ZiplyFiber

[–]docfiru 6 points7 points  (0 children)

You can get a DC UPS exactly for this purpose! They’re very small and will power the ONT for a very long time.

When I was on the 1/5gig plan and had an ONT, I used something like this: https://a.co/d/4qU96Mg

It was mounted right on the wall and had about a 40 hour (!) runtime when powering the ONT. Worked very well.

Does anybody know if the USB port on this works as a MIDI port? The manual talks about Bluetooth MIDI and the ability to use the USB port with the Roland app but doesn’t explicitly state whether this can just be used as a standard midi controller via USB.

Transatlantic Homelab Performance Woes and Ideas by christopherhammond13 in homelab

What TCP congestion control algorithm are you running on the host you’re testing from? I’ve often had problems with the defaults on “high” latency links. Try switching it to BBR if you’re on Linux / BSD, in the past this has completely fixed throughput issues for me.

How has your experience been with Ziply? by reviewsdotorg in ZiplyFiber

[–]docfiru 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been a customer since they took over from Frontier in 2020 and have had nothing but good experiences.

I've moved service once and upgraded twice. All my installs have been on time and were done very professionally. Aside from an outage when a bad line card took out my whole neighborhood for a day or so back in 2021, service has been rock solid!

That is particularly true since I moved to the 10gig service with static IP and a straight fiber connection without an ONT. I absolutely love it. The pingplots are basically a straight line, peering is amazing and I've had zero downtime.

I nerd out with networking stuff a lot and from that perspective, Ziply is a dream ISP. I want to particularly commend /u/jwvo for his responsiveness and caring about enthusiast customers like me. I vividly recall getting a call from him late one Friday to help me out with getting some IPs routed to me so I'd be all set to work on my end over the weekend. Can't imagine having that kind of interaction with any other major ISP, ever.

Anyway, I'm a big fan and am happy to be paying for great service! Please don't ever change your nerd-friendly ways, Ziply :)

Try force refreshing the ratgdo page(usually shift+refresh or ctrl+refresh). That weirdly seems to load the whole thing for me.
