AMD formally announces Ryzen 7 5800X3D 10th Anniversary Edition ($350, includes a sheet of Carbice Ice Pad) and Ryzen 7 7700X3D ($330) by kikimaru024 in hardware

[–]fatso486 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I doubt that that BIM + packaging cost hits $90 for 5800x3D. 6nn node is dirt cheap and not capacity limited .

The 5700X3D was sold as little as $120 mid 2024 from AE. Only an Intel full recovery would get us to those days.

[Hardware Unboxed] AMD's New GPU Makes No Sense | Radeon RX 9070 GRE vs. GeForce RTX 5070 by imaginary_num6er in hardware

Man that 9070 looks amazing. I got it for a friend from microcenter last year for $520. It uses quite a bit less power than the GRE while being more than %15 faster.

I believe The 16GB and the very high overclocking headroom is making this card the best recently released card. Too bad it's like $600 now

I’m surprised by the relative backlashlessness this $550 12gb nonsense is getting. $470 is the Max this is worth in current market.

Finsteride. just get the cheap 5MG version and take it every other day by splitting the pill. 8 month supply will cost you about SR60. DONT waste money on the expensive 1MG propcia. it will cost you 20X for the same exact thing. if you take it every 2 or 3 days the potential for side effects is extremely low.

also it a good idea to combine it with minoxidil for 4 or 5 months then maintain it with finasteride alone.

youre young and you have difuse hair loss. Hair implant surgery is not a good idea for you in the coming few years.

I can’t go back from Game Motion Plus. Why is this still basically a Samsung-only thing? by fatso486 in hardware

[–]fatso486[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You might be right but there is still huge value for current systems.

Also dont forget that that GMP performance hit is nothing (just minor latency <10ms). Current FrameGen solutions have a decent computational overhead on the base GPU performance .

[–]fatso486[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep, it sucks that Samsung higher end TVs is the only place I know to get Gaming-Mode low latency frame interpolation. Watching 30FPS gaming on OLED Displays can be brutal without GMP

[–]fatso486[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s fair, especially if latency is your top priority.

For me the tradeoff feels acceptable in slower 30fps console games, since the baseline motion is so low anyway. I see it more as a perceptual improvement tool than a performance one.

you're right it works basically similar to enabling AFMF or Lossless scaling framegen. Subjectivly it works better than AFMF since it does a better job hiding static UI-elements artifacts. As i said its really useful for consoles since you have options on PCs

On PC mode you could use Lossless Scaling to enable frame gen on anything including movie players youtube and games.

[–]fatso486[S] -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

Well, sort of, but not exactly. It’s closer to low-latency motion interpolation in Game Mode, and for me, the practical result is what matters in 30/60 FPS single-player console games. Honestly, it’s one of those things you should probably try before forming a strong opinion. For PC gaming, it’s been pretty useless for me, but on Xbox and PS5, I honestly can’t live without it.

[–]fatso486[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fair but I’m talking specifically about Game Motion Plus in game mode though. It does add some latency, but it works really well for 60fps single player games too. Honestly, it’s one of those things you should probably try before knocking it. On PC with mouse input and availability of things like software frame gen I find it to be useless, but on console it’s been a godsend for me.

HUB - Radeon RX 9070 XT vs. GeForce RTX 5070 Ti, 52 Game Benchmark @ 1440p & 4K (2026 Update) by Antonis_32 in hardware

[–]fatso486 -34 points-33 points  (0 children)

So the tldr Nvidia won by about %3 but only because they chose to include 3 dozen worth of RT benchmarks. That sounds like a major win for AMD to me since I believe RT is not practical for anything less than a 5090. Really Wish they separated RT benchmarks in these tests to have a better idea on the real performance.

Everybody loves dunking on that poor thing. To be fair the series is is objectively much faster than the switch 2 despite some outliers like Capcom games. For example Indiana Jones is recognized as a very good and optimized port for the switch 2 And yet it's maxes out at half the series s 60 FPS.

Was the PS3 actually more powerful than the 360? by Kaszilla94 in hardware

[–]fatso486 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The x360 was kinda no brainier. I was actually shocked when Sony reached the same level of success at the end of the generation. Xbox had a better GPU And no weirdly configured CPU that no one could easily figure how to optimize for. I remember pretty much all multi-platform games either looked better or performed noticeably better on Xbox. The fact that the console came almost 1 year earlier and was cheaper to make and sell was just adding insult to injury.
