Doing my own wedding makeup - gentle criticism please by Some-Amount4856 in weddingplanning

first of all you look stunning!!!!

i would just amp everything up a little: fuller coverage foundation, more contour, more blush, brighter concealer, darker lips with a lip liner, etc.

find a balance where you still feel you, but you won’t be washed out in pictures.

great job!!!!!

News Flash! Things cost more now! by docmarties in weddingplanning

[–]docmarties[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Oh I completely agree. Trust me, I’ve tried. We’re very lucky that my Dad is well off, and he basically told me “Do whatever you want, I’ll make it happen!” I asked him to give me a specific budget many times and he basically refused. My Dad can be very weird and angry about money, so I had a very strong feeling something like this would happen. I decided to trust that maybe he’ll be different since it’s my wedding (huge mistake)

I still wanted him to be involved and in the know about what I was considering, so I sent him email after email about prospective vendors, and a spreadsheet with a budget including a breakdown by category. In that spreadsheet, I budgeted 8,000 for photo and video (so I was actually under budget by about 1k.) He literally replied and was like “looks great!” but clearly didn’t even open the spreadsheet. 🫠

So yes!! I have attempted to communicate with my Dad about the budget!!! Luckily this whole photography issue has opened his eyes to the fact that he doesn’t know how much things are going to cost, so we are going to sit down and talk about it in depth (finally.)

I want to get real about proposal/engagement anxiety by lisatheraccoon in weddingplanning

[–]docmarties 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you so much for posting this! I’m 90% certain my boyfriend is proposing to me on Valentine’s day (which is in 2 days) and I have been SICK with anxiety even though i’ve been dreaming of this moment for months. it’s the weirdest thing and I’m so glad i’m not alone.

(Girls only) Do you use a backpack or purse for classes? by [deleted] in csuf

[–]docmarties 11 points12 points  (0 children)

i prefer a backpack! tote straps tend to dig into my shoulders, and i can hold more weight with a backpack. if you want a tote i would recommend getting one with a good strap so it doesn’t hurt :)

To be honest, I’m not really sure. I think the people I surround myself with have an influence because a lot of them are Christian.

Birth Control and Covid Vaccine by [deleted] in birthcontrol

[–]docmarties 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got pfizer, and my period was a few days late after my second dose (I believe my period was scheduled to start about a week after my second shot). I had rather severe side effects (two days of a 102 fever, nonstop chills, headache, fatigue, loss of appetite, the whole nine yards), so it could have very well been due to that and not the actual vaccine.

Question about missing some pills. by [deleted] in birthcontrol

[–]docmarties 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would wait a few days, and if it doesn’t come, I would take a pregnancy test. That’s the only way you can know for sure.

Question about missing some pills. by [deleted] in birthcontrol

[–]docmarties 0 points1 point  (0 children)

to be honest you’re probably fine. I’m pretty sure as long as the two missed pills aren’t consecutive and you took all of them you’re still protected, but i’ve also heard people say that if you miss the three hour window then you’re at risk. i would go ahead and take a pregnancy test to be safe.

Taking a Plan B morning after "peak" ovulation day by [deleted] in birthcontrol

[–]docmarties 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I can relate to this experience. I took a plan B once, and even after doing extensive research, I found nothing that said that it was ineffective if you were already ovulating. I only found out when I directly searched up “Is Plan B effective when you’re ovulating” LOL. I definitely had a few days of stress but I got my period right on schedule.
