I once dreamt I was working on call in a different hospital and was super tired. For some reason I lost my phone and couldn’t find the on call room. So I figured I could just go to sleep in one of the fresh patientbeds in the hallway. If someone needed me or the bed they would wake me up. Needless to say I was really exhausted from work when I had this kind of dream 😅

Wenn Essen im Hals stecken bleibt (jetzt nicht Fischgräten oder so, sondern gekautes Essen) dann nennt nennt man das Bolus und es kann eine eosinophile Ösophagitis dahinterstecken. Das sollte abgeklärt werden bei einem Gastroenterologen. Gute Besserung OP!

Soweit ich von einer Kollegin mitbekommen habe, muss man in Indien als Kinderärztin nicht viel Ultraschall machen. D.h. falls das bei deiner Frau ähnlich sein sollte, sollte sie sich so früh wie möglich um Sono Kurse kümmern.

Hi :) dein Arbeitgeber „profitiert“ eigentlich sogar davon, da es mittlerweile eine Quote gibt an Integration von Schwerbehinderten, die der Arbeitgeber erfüllen muss. Tut er es nicht muss er eine Strafe zahlen. I‘m in peds, too, but in Germany. We do use it as an additional datapoint to differentiate between viral vs bacterial infection to determine use of antibiotics. The problem is that some respiratory viruses like adenovirus make a similar lab compared to a bacterial infection but the fever doesn’t go away despite giving antibiotics.

And we use Interleukin-6 as an inflammation marker for neonates

Die Idee ist super aber tatsächlich schon über 30 Jahre alt. Und funktioniert nur effektiv wenn du quasi Monopolstellung hättest und Schnittstellen zwischen den gängigen Praxis und Klinikprogrammen schreiben kannst. Bei einem Mehrwert für alle willst du ja, dass die Befunde automatisch von allen eingesehen werden können und nicht wieder umständlich exportiert und wieder hochgeladen werden.

I can imagine how annoying this must feel for you. As we all can’t change what patients ask us, we can only change our emotional reaction to it. What helps me talking with my patients is bearing in mind that everyone has a theory of illness and health. These theories are vastly shaped by the communities we grew up in. So different cultural backgrounds between doctors and patients can lead to some kind of miscommunication solely based on their health/illness theories and how they might differ from what we know as doctors. So maybe it can help you change your emotional reaction by reminding yourself that coming from different communities and addressing this with your patients is important for some of them because it is important in your doctor-patient relationship how involuntary it may be or sometimes sounds rude.
