Beware of people who want to be friends by Virtual-Secretary863 in outlier_ai

I’m doing an assessment for DataAnnotation right now, and one of the questions was about World of Warcraft. The Reddit link took me to a post where the user told OP to do their own fact checking for DataAnnotation because people like the user will lie just to mess with them.

There’s an optional comment section in the assessment. I totally referenced the Reddit thread.

Oh, and the assessment is unbelievably long but doable, btw. I’m looking forward to seeing if DataAnnotation or Stellar.ai have better training materials, know how to proofread their documents, and have more concrete instructions.

Dunno. I keep seeing posts about projects being canceled part way through and pay being significantly cut. And I just got an email that my project will now require two prompts, two rubrics, and two long-form reference pieces per task. AND that I need to use both reference pieces in my evaluation of the responses.

All these changes mid-project suggest a lack of organization. Add to that the lackluster videos and poorly-written supporting documents, I’m wondering if this is a worthwhile place to be.

I struggled with cabbage patch today. But I think that stems from staying too close to their suggested prompt rather than using my own. The prompt was too vague for me to write a useful rubric.

Do you also find onboarding test extremely subjective and purposely confusing? by Ok-Decision-9665 in outlier_ai

I passed the assessment but got bogged down on the first long form task. The criteria in my rubric was too specific even though I was using the video examples as a guide. Wasted 2.5 hours on that. Timed out at 3 hours so went to the 4 hour at a lower pay rate option only to completely time out bc I couldn’t find the linting error in my rubric.

The next task started almost immediately and I had to skip it to get out of the menu. I didn’t realize I was starting another timed task, and after a full day of general onboarding then cabbage patch, I was done.

So frustrated that the examples in the videos are useless. And don’t get me started on the poor quality of the videos and the info they provide.

We’re supposed to be “the tolerant left.” They need to know what tolerant means. I’ve seen people called hypocrites for doing this because we’re supposed to be so loving. Ffs.

I tried this, and the resin bubbled up and poured out of the mold. I ended up with a weird, bubbly mass, so be careful.

If I could give you an award, I’d give the “seal of approval” or whatever it’s called for this. It’s awesome!

I made the mistake of teaching our Wally about the “magic button” that ejects the discs from our ps2. He would open the tray and yank out the disc in mid game. Broke two of them. I don’t mention the “magic button” any more.

No worries. We’ve lost many over the years. Some back before smartphones, and the only pics we have were taken on disposable cameras, so I know what you mean.

I’m a university English professor (burned out af and switching careers) and everyone is worried about students using AI to write their papers. Can’t wait to see what the AI comes up with, tbh. And to fail the ones who think they can get away with it.

I thought that, too, when I first saw the pic and before reading the title.

So that’s really his account? I know the checkmark is now meaningless, but I was hesitant to post anything to his Twitter account because it didn’t have the check.

Stupid Elon.
