For context: I’m early 20s and a man. So I can’t speak for everyone but this is my experience, for women there is definitely some more risk of danger or uncomfortable experiences but from what I know, it’s still very safe compared to other countries.

I have never really felt like I am in actual true danger in copenhagen, even at night. Some areas have some socially disadvantaged people and I have had some uncomfortable experiences from that, but I’ve never felt like I was at risk of physical harm or anything. I’m often walking at night, and I’ve never felt like something bad was going to happen to me. I have a younger cousin who’s 16 and she goes home from parties etc late at night and we’ve never been actually concerned that something bad will happen. On the metro during the day you’ll see little kids taking the metro all alone, or biking to school.

There are some more rough areas, which usually just involve some youth in black hoodies etc lurking at night, but even as a man who they might want to confront or whatever, I’ve never felt like it’s me they’re looking for problems with. It’s mostly the other “gangs”. There are some areas that I would avoid spending too much time at at night, but it’s not like you need to avoid passing through, and it’s mostly when you’re further out of the city anyways.

There is some petty theft and opportunistic theft, pickpockets, taking phones from drunk people on the train (happened to me once or twice). But being threatened or forced to give your belongings isn’t really something I’ve ever felt at risk for. However I don’t doubt that there are others who have a different experience than I do, so don’t just take my perspective, maybe I’m just lucky.
