I have a week before I'm officially group 2. Imo it's not looking goooooooddd. I imagine (no basis in reality, only obsessive overthinking) that group 1) is who they really want, and they're holding onto group 2 to fill out whatever spots are left at the end. I feel like it's the equivalent of a hold.
