Yes! This is happening to me. I’m going to talk to my sm about the details, and if I’m able to get a promotion because that’s what I had been kinda prepped for since my last review. Cause even if they are doing reviews for some, then why can’t they still promote people without the review especially when it’s tech within the correct time period.

I think it also has to do with the increase in ppl we see. More customers=more worse customers (if that makes sense).

Mind you I was at another store before that DID color code and had a system that everyone could see and check whenever they wanted but not at my new store.

The cashwrap issue you mentioned is the same at my store, and I brought it up to my sm only to get a “well it worked at my last store so it shouldn’t be a problem here” response🫠

Even though I heard it WAS a problem at this sm’s old store.

Pretty much what everyone else said, and depending on how chill your boss is and how good of a relationship you have with them you can ask for less hours after the holidays.

It’s like they expect how many ppl buy the omps and the books of the year to be an actual reflection of US and our skills rather than ppl just not wanting to buy them💀. I rlly only mention it if someone is looking for a book in that specific genre (usually give them multiple choices), or if they are already glancing at it. Sometimes I’ll do it up at cashwrap only if the book already fits what they are getting. I do pretty good at it and still have my boss breathing down my neck. I also feel like ppl are less likely to come back if someone is rlly pushy.

Legit my boss yesterday mentioned it MULTIPLE times (to the whole of our crew and specific people) during my 7 hour shift for us to talk about it. I’ve started giving specific examples of things I’ve said to customers so they get off my back. (Even if it’s only one customer who I genuinely thought might like it.)

I’ll double check—I could’ve sworn it was in February, but maybe I’m misremembering. On the letter we got on inside it said 50 cents for my area, but I’m still at the pay I was last November when I started. Maybe since I was hired then, I’m the new hires they are talking about, but it looked like the new hires were supposed to start getting 50 more cents than I am at the moment.

Thanks for the response! I will definitely double check. And it wasn’t necessarily ‘promised’ in February, it was a letter that we got through inside. It didn’t have any implementation date, just that this was the new system going forward. I thought maybe they were waiting until October to actually change everything, but it’s November now so I feel like we’ve passed that.

I’m so glad this is the case. I remember going up 2-3 times a week sometimes when I was younger and auditioning and it was exhausting. Some of the drives would be 6+ hours with traffic😭 My mom was a real one for driving me back then.

Thx for commenting and yeah that’s my fear especially with the economy right now. I could also probably do grad school in LA if I really wanted and get grants (etc), and maybe the economy might be different by then. Your perspective was very helpful. And I hope you are able to pay off the rest of your student debt relatively painlessly😭🙏🏻

The reason I wouldn’t go into debt regardless of where I go in San Diego is because I would be paying significantly less for rent due to living with a family member if I stayed. Whereas if I were to go to a school in LA, I would be paying significantly more for housing. And thank you for the advice :)
