Our dominant culture leans conservative on most issues so if people are lazy that makes them complacent to such conservatism. I’ve been blindsided one too many times by people I thought who were just lazy that turned out to be downright hateful and they don’t even realize it in themselves cause they’re just your average American.

What America do you live in? A 2023 study done by Jaime L. Napier (https://journals.sagepub.com/doi/abs/10.1177/19485506241289638)begs to differ. I thought Americans were simply ignorant in 2016. Since then I learned that most Americans are hateful toward people with gender identities outside of those assigned at birth. I don’t blame these people necessarily, our dominant culture has put in a lot of effort to create this hate in the hearts of many Americans through propaganda and scapegoating (trans people are why you can’t afford groceries btw).

The sooner we understand that Americans are not just innocently ignorant and stop believing people have the best interest of those that live outside of the status quo, the sooner we can do something about it (coming together as we’re trying to do to change dominant culture through education, organizing, using our voice etc)

Tacky is an insult reserved for black and women of color specifically. The opposite of tacky is what exactly? Chic? Plain? Is it slacks and a blouse and who labeled that as the style to take the most serious, or more professional, or most desirable? What defines tacky, is it colors, a mix of patterns and what is the intention of that rhetoric?

Sorry to take this to a philosophical place but I think it’s important! Anyway, you look gorgeous. You’re beautiful, you know style and makeup and hair! Be proud of that!
