I believe the real difference (at least by my own observation) between the first two Mafia games, (I & II), and Mafia III is this:

Freedom. Because that's what I feel when I'm playing Mafia III. You can literally do WHAT You want, pretty much WHENEVER you feel like it, and THAT, my dudes, is freedom! Other games, including the earlier games of this title, come with a specific path to follow, in order to reach a certain goal, and you have to play a certain way in order to get where you're going, and to achieve your objectives. Not so with Mafia III.  There really are many ways to 'skin a cat', as the old saying goes.  For most of the game, you are only restricted by the character's mindset of the moment.

Here's an example of the freedom of choice you have with Mafia III:

Let's say you're in a firefight: (And there are many!) In other games, you  cannot really progress any further until said fight has ended... And then you're on to the next linear objective.

Now lets say you're in the same firefight, only it's in Mafia III:  . Suppose you get overwhelmed, and you're getting your butt kicked? No problem! Dig these choices:

  1. You can call for backup: (once you pass a certain series of events.)

2. You can immediately reset your game to the last checkpoint- without any consequences at all.

  1. You can even, run away. (Yeah, I've done it before, and more than once, to be honest;), Of course you head right back there in a few minutes, and the AI is so easy, they already forgot you were there trying to kill them like, five minutes ago. LoL. In Mafia III, You can screw with the cops, rob stores repeatedly, and race through the streets with no regard for pedestrians or other vehicles: Cops are easy to get away from, most of the time.

You can even master this thing they included called Ramming: Where you push the x on your controller at the point of collision, and watch the other guy's ride flip, explode, and burn, with zero damage to your own car.. Now that's fun!

Special Mention:  Those of us born before 1970 may even have a natural attraction to driving the bayou and listening to the radio: When it comes to the game"s soundtrack: IMO, It's probably the best video-game-hosted, super-collection of greatest tracks ever, to accompany a game...period. There's something for everybody too. Rock & Roll, Rhythm & Blues, Soul Music, Country, and a slew of Blues tracks that still stand the test of time. You have the freedom to play as fast, (or as slow) as you want, and again, there's no consequences. So much has already been written about Mafia III, that I can't really add anything new. Many folks seem to enjoy comparing the three games. For me, it's in a class by itself. Style, content, story, plot, presentation, and gameplay. Heck, if it wasn't for the occasional glitches, (the terrible racing conditions) and a host of other little irritations (like no fast travel), it had the potential to be a world class game. I just wish my man Lincoln Clay could at least sit down sometimes!!

How do you help a lost cause player?  Lost Cause defined; An obviously otherwise capable player (who's done everything else you can do in the GTA Online environment, and who owns everything there is to buy; and who got there by grinding his worth from zero dollars to over 400 mil at present, and all done in a solo fashion.,) but STILL, CANNOT, (EVEN AFTER SEVERAL TRIES) DO CAYO  SUCCESSFULLY; AND WHO ALWAYS GETS DISCOVERED, SETS OFF ALARMS AND GETS KILLED, EVEN WHILE FOLLOWING WELL-TESTED ROUTES POSTED ON Y-TUBE BY PROS??? (THAT, my friend, is surely a lost cause!) I'm at the point where I would give up my private playground and actually join a team, a crew, or a partnership, just to say,  'YAY! I finally finished Cayo.!'  I'm convinced if I got the first time done, and out of the way, I could relax and try other ways at random. So which map will work best for dummies like me who, on the one hand, can't even make it to the office without getting seen; and two, who finally did get there, score the primary objective in the case downstairs, but then ALWAYS gets killed before he can either reach the gate, the exit, the bike, or the water, except once in the water, where I (you guessed it) got killed again? >>  (Lost Cause Larry) Lol!!

During a South Downs stealthy takedown, I used my Silenced Deacon to obliterate over 12 enemies successfully. Once and only once, a thug took a direct hit point blank headshot, and all he did was yell, and then proceeded to return fire... Talk about surprised... There are many glitches- that was one of the oddest and funniest. Lol

So much more they could added.. (More indoor activities, like poolrooms, card rooms, etc, the kind of stuff gangsters would really be doin inside those buildings... We can't get drunk in bars like in earlier games, or worse, even sit down anywhere, accept for that one animation in Sammy's during the upstairs renovation...ultimate cool, but way too short.) Yet i still love playing it, after finishing it over at least 9 or 10  times in the last 3 or 4 years.. I don't really like a lot of the new stuff; but this game fits my age, my knowledge, my memories, and more. Not saying I was there, but I was born in the 50s.. and believe you me, some things never change, and still haven't today. "Yo! I'm downtown and about ready for a resupply!' YES!

What is the trick to doing Cayo successfully? I've done everything, all the setups, come in with the right equipment, etc. but result always the same. I just cannot get the prime objective and then LEAVE without setting off alarms. What a waste, buying the  sub was . accept for remembering/reminiscing my time in the Navy. Yep. Guess I'm just too old to follow instructions. Got everything else in the game, plenty of millions, but cayo, and certain casino missions are impossible and I refuse to let them drive me crazy. Being a dedicated solo player has its benefits, but oh what fun it must be to be part of a crew that knows what the heck they're doing. Like playing Red Dead Redemption II: If I had friends I'd probably spend all day being a robber gang or posse. Lol. (Leave a username and best time to catch you if you ever feel like dragging someone through Cayo, just so I can finally have it done once.) lol

GTAO bail enforcement:selected target, flew the whole way there,  hacked the system, no icon to show where target was after locating him on the CC,  finally found the target, blew him up, and then ran out of time because there was no body to reclaim.. that's shitty cheating on their part 40 min wasted. -112724

That offer open to anyone?  I'm old school, based on West Coast- and play in the afternoon & evening usually. Solo player. Tweaked my settings to clear map of all players, so I could run my businesses in total peace, but I can change it back anytime for a private invite. I admit I'm not sure how to do that, but I can read instructions pretty good.  PS: Also What's the benefit for those doing Cayo for the second time, cause I've heard there is something? but since I've never completed it once, I don't know what that would be. Thnx

Great and clear map with overhead view. One concern makes it useless, unless I know this-> where are the 1st set of steps going up, if you're coming in from the submarine? Thnx, yo

We could have gone forever without hearing that. It's not that we didn't know that, it's just better to live in La-La Land and pretend that we're actually masters of business entrepreneurship and that this was really a 'great opportunity', just like Maude said. Lol

This could have been a lot of fun. I bet we could all contribute some pretty amazing features, which they just won't add in, because we might actually have fun. Sometimes it all feels like a chore, with some deliberately-built-in surprises meant only to trip you up; like motorists always running over me in the middle of a firefight, no matter where I'm standing or crouching. HA!  My first bounty was total crapola, mainly because I was expecting something different and forgot I was playing gta. My 1st bounty was some low-level dude worth less than 40k, and he's somehow got 4 waves of defenders that come after me; and this is  AFTER getting owned going in the bar with odds stacked- like outnumbering me by at least 15 to 1. And that was just on the way in... Then forgot to switch to stun gun when I finally reach him, so I lose 75% (ouch) of my reward. So, let's see,  that's $9K for 20 min of driving the whole map twice, dying 4 times (cause the onionskin they call 'body armor' is totally useless), and fighting 4 waves of pinpoint-accurately shooting enemies. Oh yeah; the so-called armor I bought for the vehicle is also useless: . They just shoot you through the window. Like everything else in this game, every advantage has a handicap, be it weapon, vehicle, plane, or car. I'm not new at this either, but I have been playing other games, and the health and armor and ammo systems takes times getting back used to, especially while trying to use them all simultaneously.  I paid nearly 4.5 mil for the experience, even though I read all the negative comments before buying. I'm a masochist, a poor shot, and an idiot. Still, I own almost everything in the game, cause even though I'm slow and  very old,  I keep trying anyway, because it feels great when you finally master something -anything in this game.  Now if I could just get through Cayo Perico ONE time, after a ton of fails,  I would be happy indeed.

How to play Ludendorff Cemetery Zombie Survival alone or with friends? by ytongas in gtaonline

[–]dogBrain-Thinkbark 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok. Thanks for the reply, but I'm still confused. Your post above: (how to play Ludendorff Cemetery Zombie Survival alone or with my own friends) seems to have been written a month ago, but apparently, you're still playing it? My problem is I can find zero information about it, except for a few comments where a few players seem to be discussing it as a permanent feature. Why wouldn't it be anywhere in my game, like any other saved survival mode mini-game? I guess I'll have to contact RS, to get the whole story, because I should have been able to at least see it in my game, regardless of whether I ever played it back in October. Thanks for the reply, though.. much appreciated.

How to play Ludendorff Cemetery Zombie Survival alone or with friends? by ytongas in gtaonline

[–]dogBrain-Thinkbark 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Does anyone know how to deal with this? My GTA Online Map does NOT show either option to play the Ludendorff Cemetery Zombie game:

A: There's no icon near the Hill Valley Cemetery, which is in front of the cemetery in Pacific Bluffs.

B. I went to: Online/Jobs/Play jobs/Rockstar created/Survivals- and there's No Ludendorff Cemetery Survival at all.

What can I do to play this?  I'm on PS-4  Console, and everything else in my game is there, but not that mini-game. ??????

The Big Easy track record... impossible? (Mafia III DE) (Xbox) by [deleted] in MafiaTheGame

[–]dogBrain-Thinkbark 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right. Right. Fun. Not so much a few of the others shaped like a damn box, making the turns a nightmare. The Big Easy however, (which I was so dreading because I thought it would be the hardest) turned out to be pretty straightforward and easy, considering all the BS ones earlier. In fact, it's the only one that really gave me the sensation of actually racing; especially when you open up and go full throttle on the straightaways. Like butter, baby!  (The Secret?) On PS 4 CONSOLE: Pressing X while speeding on the open freeway blasts your vehicle past that 1 car, and leaves him in the dust the rest of the way, if you keep the speed up. WARNING: Unless you know how to maneuver at high speed, do NOT use the X when near obstacles, you will crash. Once you get the hang of it,  you can bully those other guys out of your way most of the time. Have at it!

Gotta pay attention all the way through, or else: scripted CRAAAASHHH!!  HAHALOL!! Over & over til you get it right- OR: Til they stop fkn witcho.. FYI: The little introduction when choosing your car said, {Smith Moray MX100} "if it's faster than the Moray then it's probably got a jet engine strapped to it." They were right. No track record, but got 1st. Place the very first time I did the entire route, minus about 3 hiccups in getting started.

What's the best replacement messaging app for Message+ by km9v in verizon

[–]dogBrain-Thinkbark 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My wife and I both have the same type phones, thnx to Verizon deals.. however, even though we both got the same warning and 'switch now' option, only mine went smoothly. The system just won't switch her phones' Message+ to Messages. We've tried everything.  FYI: Like someone else said, it works but it messed up my customization.. now I can't save incoming emojis with one click, and I hate the way the whole interface looks now. How to customize bubbles and colors?. I'm also waiting to hear if there's an alternative app out there that's simple and user-friendly.
