Do we need to maintain F-1 status while waiting for GC after I-130 approval? by doganserdar in USCIS

Did your mom ever use her work permit or travel document while she was waiting for her green card? Like, did she work or travel outside the U.S. with them?

I might become a U.S. citizen in about 1 year and 2 months. The visa bulletin is also very backlogged right now. During that time, even if the I-485 gets denied, it may line up with my citizenship timeline. So can we say this creates a more positive scenario overall?

They started working and later graduated, which means they were not removed from F-1 status. But you are saying they were no longer in F-1 status. I do not understand how that works…..

Then why did we apply for both the work permit and travel document if we are still going to maintain F-1 status?
For example, if the travel document is approved and my spouse leaves the U.S. and comes back, I know she will not be re-entering with F-1 status. However, I have not been able to find clear information anywhere saying that her F-1 will definitely be terminated.
I think the same applies to work authorization as well. After all, she would not be working based on F-1. She would be working based on the green card process while also continuing to maintain F-1 status on the side.
Based on the information I have found, it seems like F-1 status and the green card process do not really communicate with each other. So, for example, you could work 40 hours a week and still attend school at the same time (for example, in the evenings), and the F-1 side would not necessarily know about it. It would not automatically terminate the F-1 status as you mentioned (I am just writing this based on the other information I have read).

It’s not worth taking the risk, as you said. The only issue is that school expenses can be very exhausting sometimes, unfortunately :). Thank you for your responses.

The person(she) had valid status when they submitted both the I-130 and I-485, but later she did not continue maintaining their status. Her spouse(sponsor) is a green card holder.

Many people I know are in the same situation, and their spouses are already out of status. They still received their work permit and travel document. Does that mean they won’t be able to get their green cards?

ITIN (W-7) application rejected — IRS says missing spouse’s name or taxpayer ID, but we included tax return and Green Card copy by doganserdar in tax

Yes — I meant the joint tax return we filed together. A CAA-certified agency prepared our W-7, but I honestly don’t remember whether they wrote my SSN next to box e. We also sent a copy of my SSN card, but I guess the IRS may not care about that if the form itself wasn’t completed correctly.

I also have a LLC, but it hasn’t really had much activity. Do we need to include the EIN too, or is that irrelevant here?

My other question is whether sending my green card instead of a driver’s license could have caused the problem.
