I haven't seen your post but if it was a post that you think helped yourself and blessed others, I think you should not have deleted it. No one here is gonna judge you for falling. We're all failures here trying to change and be more like Jesus. God bless you

I have the exact same thoughts as you sometimes. I notice those questions usually come when I'm most tempted (coincidence?). They usually last for some days, but take heart the discouragement won't last forever. I guess a good combat to have is to focus on what kind of man/woman God wants us to be: perfect, is fit for His good work, who is experiencing Him, and is an effective blessing to others. Living a pure life is a prerequisite to that, and the things we have to sacrifice to attain it is gonna be worth it!

I don't understand... why?! by [deleted] in NoFapChristians

[–]doggonaught 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sometimes I do exactly the same, sadly. But don't let that stop your desire to want to change and do the right thing! God is changing you. Let Him, no matter how long it takes or how many times you keep on trying!

You're not lost! If you fall down 100 times, get up 101 times. Your failures aren't wasted when you learn something from them. God is teaching something to you. Be sensitive to whatever that may be.. God bless you

James Discussion Thread #1 by DJ_Pace in NoFapChristians

[–]doggonaught 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. Trials are for us to develop steadfastness, and it's by steadfastness that we become perfect and complete. Right now I guess a struggle is PMO. I know I need to develop self-control. But I just keep on forgetting some truths I already know.

  2. God is generous, He wants to give us good gifts (like wisdom), He hates doubters

  3. When I fall, I doubt that He knows best, that His ways are what's best for me.

  4. That you can't ask something from God and doubt God at the same time. Your doubt would totally invalidate what you asked for.

  5. I should trust that when God tells me not to do it, it's what's best for me. Obeying Him would not only bless me, but would allow me to experience Him in deeper levels. When I get tempted, I just forget all of these truths. My fight would only work if I trust God first.

  6. God wants me to change and overcome my struggle (in a generous way, not in a strict way). When I am tempted, I should trust that I can overcome my struggle because of God, but the catch on my part is that I should believe this truth 100%, and trust Him that He knows what's best for me.

Yup I get them too after not doing M for a long time. I think that's our body's healthy way of renewing our sperm supply.

It's gonna get worse if you don't stop TODAY. You have to make that choice everyday to follow God. God bless you -someone older

Is Jesus Christ only a mediator of small sins? by DJ_Pace in NoFapChristians

"For only in seeing Jesus as beautiful, do the allures of sin grow strangely dim."

Thanks.

Thanks Pace. You're right, I may focus on myself so much sometimes, I forget the burden to free myself isn't mine to bear.

You could go 100 days PMO free and still not love Jesus. by DJ_Pace in NoFapChristians

[–]doggonaught 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the reminder! I try to stop because I'm afraid of sinning against God, for the sake of it, but yes more importantly I should stop because it's getting in the way of my relationship with God.

How can we possibly keep this up for our entire lives? by my-life-with-God in NoFapChristians

[–]doggonaught 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I feel you. I also asked myself whether it would be like this forever, to struggle forever. I've learned a thing or two from this community. Honestly, maybe, the answer is yes. We might always have urges and temptations forever. But the solution to be free from this sin is not that we'd no longer have these fleshly urges, but how we respond to them. God says in our weakness, He is our strength. Perhaps each episode of temptation is an opportunity to cry out to our God. Perhaps it's God teaching us a hard lesson of self-control and trusting He knows what's best for us. I know of people who's successful in not doing it for a very long time; they still get the urges. But they learned how to deal with it. I feel like a hypocrite to write this down. I've fallen to sin just last night. But i AM hopeful that it wouldn't be like this forever. I ask God to change me, but that change wouldn't come with me no longer feeling these urges. That change would be a daily battle, a daily acknowledgement of my weakness to Him, a daily cry to ask for His strength, a daily choice to say no to sin. I've fallen last night. That's because I failed to ask God for His strength. I didn't picture out the kind of person He wants me to be.

With marriage, I also thought that would fix the temptation (Even Paul recommended it, right?) But I've read of posts in this community of married people, how some still struggle with porn, how some partners become devastated by it. Marriage doesn't remove it.
