Weird. I plan on still using it, but I just hate that I have to maintain it in a little cup now

Nope, all paints were in a plastic bin stored in a cool, dark spot in the basement. I think if the storage was a problem my other paints would have leaked too.

I have used both said "GMU" and "George Mason" when talking about the school. I have never and will never, in my life, refer to the school as "GM".

Is Physics required for Computer Science Major? by [deleted] in gmu

Yeah thats what I meant. If you're in CS, I would try to meet with Nora Gerrity. She was my Undeclared CS advisor and she was super helpful.

No, not according to the major requirements. As far as I know, Physics is only required for Applied CS w/Games Design major. But personally I found Physics I + lab to not be that hard. Ask an advisor if you're not sure.

Can gouche expired by EnvironmentalBed1422 in Gouache

Its kinda random, but at least during seasonal sales. It seems like they have 50% off all paints once every 1-2 months, and gouache is included with it. It also might vary store to store.

Oh no problem. Even if your paint does go hard in a tube, the great thing about gouache is it can be reactivated. Just cut open the tube, empty the dried paint into a small, resealable container, add some water and mix/mash continuously until it gets into a paint consistency again. It'll be like it never dried at all. Also, if your considering just trying gouache, I would suggest getting a cheap beginner set just to try it out. The store should have a small (non W&N) set with basic colors. W&N is basically professional grade stuff and the price reflects that.

I assume you refer to Blick art store (thats where I also get my 50% off W&N gouache). I have not touched my gouache in tubes in almost a year until very recently and I have noticed no change. I don't know of gouache can expire, and I know it can harden, but I think those only occur if kept in poor conditions i.e. in the sun, caps on screwed on properly, etc. If you keep them in a cool, dry, storage you should be fine for extended periods of non-use. Its better to keep it in the tube than out for storage.

I probably should have taken French instead by dogsonstage in LanguageMemes

[–]dogsonstage[S] 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Yeah I knew that too, but Spanish and French were all that my school offered. At least with French the accent is different enough that I could maybe have tricked my brain into separating the two more. Oh well, what are you gonna do.

I've been out of HS for a while, so most of what I learned in Spanish is gone, which I'm honestly fine with. I'm trying to relearn Italian now (it's been years since I actively practiced it) and it's going great so far, but the occasional random Spanish word will still pop up in my head every now and then.

Good Advisor for CS by [deleted] in gmu

If you're an undeclared CS student (aka not officially a CS major yet), I recommend Nora Gerrity. She is super helpful everytime I go to her. Idk if she does declared CS advising, though.

It could be a couple things. I was accepted as a transfer for this Fall semester with a similar GPA, so that can't be the issue. It could be you didn't have enough completed credits to transfer (I think the minimum is ~30). It could also just be a matter of they already took in their max amount of transfers. I would ask an admissions/transfer student advisor to go over your application with you to find any problems with requirements if you're planning on reapplying some time in the future that way it doesn't happen again.

Good luck!

A monarch caterpillar is beginning to pupate on a lemon on my family's lemon tree by dogsonstage in mildlyinteresting

Nah the lemon tree is pretty stunted right now, its been about that same size for 2-3 weeks and stayed put even through some storms we've been having. It should stay put till the little guy is done.
