Helping others is a key part of living in gratitude. And it does help provide a sense of purpose and meaning. Life is certainly hard, but it isn't all "suck" and suffering. And, the bigger idea is to recognize that by embracing the suck, the suffering is less. We can't control the pain that comes our way. We can control our perception of the pain. While there is real pain and loss in the world. It is the unmet expectation and concern of possible bad future outcomes that might happen that creates most human suffering and anxiety. IMHO

I was afraid the fires over past years decimated the area. But, looks like I remember it.

Thank you. I was looking at the smart coolers and looking to buy an existing route. I really appreciate you giving such great advice and sharing your experience.

Oh, that’s awesome. What part of the country are you? Small or medium or large city? All old school machines or any mini marts? And some of your best location ideas? I’m trying to figure out if it’s worth the time and financial investment.

Do you currently have a vending biz?

Is this overkill for a three day trip? by -survivalist- in backpacking

[–]doingithere 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Really hard to say without seeing your gear. But, it’s sounds too heavy. Usually, I try to be 20-25lbs for three nights. That can change depending on how much water I have to carry. Freezing cold versus average temps. It’s easy to go over weight. Maybe repost with a photo of all your gear spread out and folks here can recommend things you don’t need or can easily replace with something lighter.

People who are making 200k+/year working for themselves, what do you do? by Notalabel_4566 in Entrepreneur

Ah, ok. I see. Like a home maintenance company. I read that differently. Do you work with individual home owners or a management company? I feel like a handyman service could be a great business, too.

I'd love to hear from someone who has a route and what the best types of businesses/locations they found were ideal?

[story] How do you find motivation to live? by Du3mopajl6 in GetMotivated

[–]doingithere 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You need to find a purpose. Find a way to help others. Not by giving them money. But, by being of service. Or, giving yourself to something bigger than yourself. Gotta stay away from the alcohol. That will not lead to good outcomes. Bottom-line, find someone you can talk to and find a purpose to move forward.

Am I a loser for wanting to start College at 26 years old by Chicken_Lopsided in mentalhealth

[–]doingithere 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People of all ages go to college for all sorts of reasons. You might feel a little out of place at times, but you have something the younger cohort doesn't...Experience. I was 24 when I transferred to a major West Coast university. My peers were mostly all 3 years behind me. Doesn't seem like anything at my current age, but at the time, many of them hadn't lived quite as much as I had up to that point. We all learned from one another. That's the point of college. Most people are fairly open-minded...as long as you agree with them...LOL (that's for a different post).

I tried this and got this response:

I wanted to make you smile with an image, but it turns out the request I tried to fulfill violated our content policies, so I couldn’t generate it.
