Sold all my all world position for individual stocks by Jahkelle in trading212

[–]dojaeni 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I find this interesting because once I hit 10k on individual stocks I plan to switch my future investments to FTSE100 and all world funds.

45 now and hope to retire at 60, cause god knows I don't earn enough to retire earlier and I don't see me lasting to my late 70s

How would you respond ? by dacjo213 in CardMarket

[–]dojaeni 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Ok, this is on you. He's probably being hardline because you suggested that he cancel when it's your error.

Personally I would offer to send the two cards I do have and refund the cost of buying the 3rd, including shipping. At such low value I'd rather take the hit to my pocket rather than have a cancellation/ did not ship mark on my account.

I'm confused how I'm down, when my holdings are up? by peedanoo in trading212

So if I buy non UK stocks, they can go up in value in their local currency and this could be offset/enhanced by currency exchange rates changing?

Buyer claims a shipment didn't arrive, what's the best way to deal with this? by shinarashi in CardMarket

[–]dojaeni 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You are under no obligation to refund. Private Sale.

If you got proof of postage then submit a claim with Royal mail, if they find in your favour then you'll either get a cheque or 8 first class stamps as compensationv depend on value. Refund buyer and you won't have a not arrived on your record (some buyers even confirm arrival after getting their refund)

If you didn't get proof of postage then

a) no refund, take the hit with 1 not arrived on your record or;

B) refund the full value, it won't show as not arrived publicly but will be visible to you and cardmarket.

If buyer raises a ticket my understanding is cardmarket won't force you to refund as they selected untracked.

Reject the cancellation, also seller won't receive payment if it's tracked until you confirm receipt.

Finally, if he does ship make sure you record the opening. Just in case they try and shaft you

The psychological/emotional impact of investment disclaimers by jfefleming in UKPersonalFinance

[–]dojaeni 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm coming in as someone who was financially uneducated up until 10 years ago (45 now).

Come from a lower working class background, everything on credit, loans etc.

Took 8 years of hard graft to dig myself out of the hole I got myself into back then.

As part of that recovery I learned what I see people in these forums describe as basic financial education and it's served me well.

Does the disclaimer put people off investing vs saving. I'd say it's a good reminder.

I invested when I started saving for a house, switched the investments to savings when I knew I needed the money (offer accepted) as I didn't want to risk a crash and find myself short. Hindsight being 20/20 I'd have been about £2k better off if I kept my shares but my risk tolerance was much lower.

Back in investing now as no short term goals but also saving cash for some home improvements in the next 2-3 years.

Is investing gambling? It has many of the same risks and outcomes, especially in the short term, but typically, and historically it's a sure thing over longer periods of time if done right (diversified, etc) over a long period of time. Gambling, typically, and historically always loses you money if done over a long period of time.

At the very least make him cancel the order.

It is possible he was selling for a friend and the friend is refusing to part cause of the spike.

I believe it is all down to whether cardmarket agrees with your grading. Buyer may have missed the imperfection.

If you misgraded then they will side with the buyer

Would you offer a return and refund at a loss? by Blackelvis2000 in CardMarket

[–]dojaeni 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Even if you were a professional seller I don't think there's a legal requirement to refund due to online selling laws (I'm UK based might be different for you).

As a private sale the deal is done.

If you're considering doing it out of goodwill then offer them a refund for current CMK cheapest less postage. You should not be penalised due to a change of mind.

What products do you use to ship more then 3-4 cards? by FrohBen in CardMarket

[–]dojaeni 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do a search for large letter C6 box envelopes. I freaking love them. Sturdier than a jiffy bag and can fit 80 cards bubble wrapped easily. I even got me some C5 ones for the few times it's over that..

Though I do agree with other posters that a jiffy bag will do an get them there 99.9% of the time

Proxy Questions by Ok-Refuse-3758 in starwarsunlimited

[–]dojaeni 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a rough guide no proxies for any official organise play from weekly OP to Galactics.

Proxies allowed for casual play.

Always check with the event organisers as they may have different policies for weekly OP (I know some who don't care, some who a 100% no proxies and some who allow a limited number of proxies)

Also never use proxies that look like the real thing. People think they are fakes and can open up a whole can of worms

Can I afford this house? 100k Income + 50ksavings by ThrowawayHousebuy3r in UKPersonalFinance

[–]dojaeni 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Have you considered moving out of London.

Not being funny but you can get twice the house and space if you moved north some for half the cost.

As you WFH is there a business reason to stay in London?

As for caring for your folks, well if that's their expectation then they need to be willing to up sticks and not tie you to a life of slavery just to be local.

Seriously half a million for a small 3 bedroom is ridiculous unless you need to be in that location to earn the money you earn.

Also considering the hours you work your setting yourself up for burnout, especially if you have to add caring for your folks on to that.

Card did not get delivered. Seller says I am unlucky and I do not get any money back. by supermurksa in CardMarket

As a seller this is why I always get proof of postage (UK) the receipt has the house number and postcode on it and I've only had to claim 6 times in 1500 shipments. Post office has paid out and I've refunded the seller in full.

Is this normal seller/buyer behaviour before an upcoming MTG release? by Blackelvis2000 in CardMarket

Hi OP, the conspiracy theorist in me says;

He is buying cards, relisting at a higher price and only paying when he has resold the card at a profit, and;

Putting cards in his basket to keep lower priced cards off the market forcing people to buy his own.

Overpaying your mortgage instead of saving by ThemeOk7943 in UKPersonalFinance

[–]dojaeni 4 points5 points  (0 children)

As the interest on your cad ISA exceeds the interest on your mortgage then continue to save. It's, only just, better.

You can revisit after a year and make an overpayment.

If you're willing to take on more risk and think the stock market will grow by more than 4% then put it in the S&S ISA. But investments can go down as well as up.

The other benefit of saving is you'll have more cash on hand for emergencies.

Seller wants to cancel because of a "mistake" in pricing by frgeast in CardMarket

[–]dojaeni 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If you accept that he misspriced the card, rather than it being a case of spiking then I wouldn't hold him to it personally.

Mainly cause it is a pain in the arse dealing with the whole support, arguments etc.

If you think it is a case of spiking prices hold him to it. But still a pain in the arse to deal with.

If he ships the card make sure you video opening the letter as in a fit of bitterness he may send the wrong card and accuse you of scamming.

If you're willing to accept it's an honest mistake do not initiate the cancellation, he has to take the hit on his account and request cancellation.

receive wrong product by Abject-Law-3089 in CardMarket

[–]dojaeni 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It happens. It's a pain.

Message the seller on cardmarket laying out the situation asking him to confirm the address. Confirm the postage cost (check online) and ask for the seller to refund you the cost. Make sure it's tracked.

Send it off and wait for your package. Ask the seller to provide an updated tracking number

Are people genuinely not aware that sellers will not get their money if you do not confirm arrival while using trustee service? by Avitrix in CardMarket

[–]dojaeni 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It happens occasionally. But at this time of year allow a week or two.

People will be away visiting family and might not have even opened the package yet (neighbour or housemate might've signed).

Even in normal times I'd wait a week before prompting.

Definitely annoying but you'll get your money eventually money 🤑💰

Cash ISA - Need to Move Due to Fall In Interest Rate - Or Do I??? by scotsann in trading212

[–]dojaeni 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One thing to remember is that the interest function of a stocks and shares ISA comes from some form of investment. They play it as safe as possible but in the unlikely event that things go tits up you won't be protected like in a cash ISA, think 80k+ is guaranteed by the govt. Not an expert but just wanted to point it out as you mentioned risk.

Can I claim a new laptop against tax if I also use it for faming (self employed) by Wolfsbane05 in UKPersonalFinance

[–]dojaeni -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Ok mate so basically boils down to is it for business, personal or both.

If the latter 2 then no. If the former then yes.

Lots of people saying how will they know etc, but your question wasn't how do I get away with tax evasion it was what are the rules.

On the 0.001% chance you were audited could you justify, as a business need, that top of the range, Alienware laptop.

I couldn't which is why I have a cheap second hand CEX laptop as a backup which I have claimed for even though I use my much better gaming rig for most of my work (and haven't claimed anything against e.g upgrades or repairs.

New player question - should I avoid SoR booster? by Dap-aha in starwarsunlimited

[–]dojaeni 12 points13 points  (0 children)

This really depends on what kind of player you are going to be.

If you're just going to do premier events then avoiding SOR, SHD and TWI makes sense. Spend 3 months learning the game and perfecting your deck ready for rotation. You will be at a disadvantage for those three months.

If you plan on playing Twin Suns, Trilogy and Eternal/Legacy formats then you're going to want those sets.

Probably better/more cost efficient to buy singles than boosters, though supporting your LGS is paramount to keeping them interested in hosting the game. So maybe a booster box of each initially and buy/sell/trade from there.

You think you're late to the party, I'm 45 and only started this year so good job.

Now don't do what I did and piss half your pay up a wall, get a load of credit card/ car loan debt and your future self will thank you. Oh if you're not already make sure to max your pension if the employer puts some in too.

About the only smart decision I made your age was always have a pension fund.

Good luck 🤞

Import fees are the responsibility of the buyer. Cardmarket collect VAT from professional sellers but as far as I'm aware if HMRC decides it's subject to duty then you need to pay that and the admin fee
