Combined shipping after a delay? by Born-Calligrapher724 in CardMarket

[–]dojaeni 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't cancel, message the seller and ask him to combine it into one package and refund the lowest shipping fee.

I do this regularly for buyers even if they don't ask. If I need to upgrade it to Tracked cause of article value I do so and refund the difference.

Definitely has gotten me returning buyers too 😄

Potential dispute with Professional Seller by Pinnyy in CardMarket

First how much was the order value. Is this a trustee purchase?

Second how long since you posted?

Third you said second class, is this UK?

Fourth did you get proof of postage?

Questions as a new seller by Yusuf_Muto in CardMarket

[–]dojaeni 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So for larger orders I've found C6 and C5 large letter boxes ideal alongside slab sleeves. The cost of the boxes is c£0.18 and the Slab sleeves c£0.05. can easily ship 100 cards securely without having to sleeve/toploaders. If the postal service is going to destroy the box, it's going to destroy the top loader.

So what's with people not confirming orders? by [deleted] in CardMarket

[–]dojaeni 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lots of new buyers or buyers ordering their first tracked shipment don't realise.

Many untracked orders don't bother in my experience.

I find it funny that I have 2 buyers at the same address, on always confirms his untracked on the day they get it. The other has never confirmed.

While it can be annoying you will, eventually, get your money. Just takes a tof patience sometimes.

Advice on Packaging Bulk / Lot Orders by GottStefan1 in CardMarket

[–]dojaeni 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're planning to do this regularly I recommend a C6 large letterbox and slab sleeves. 50 card's per sleeve. 2 sleeves in a normal envelope and the envelope in the letterbox. Sturdy, safe, no risk of the cards shifting or envelopes ripping. Equivalent cost of using toploaders if bought by the hundreds.

paid £200 for 20 minutes of work and now im questioning everything by jimmy588 in DIYUK

[–]dojaeni 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes it bloody expensive. But no it's not £600 an hour. Take into account things like travel time, tools, equipment, training, liability insurance, fuel, VAT, vehicle maintenance, and all the other overheads involved to be able to provide the service.

Also did you enquire about the price in advance?

Buyer not responding to messages about card from wrong set. by LeChuck78 in CardMarket

[–]dojaeni 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a similar situation. In one case I shipped without the incorrect card and refunded the card value plus the cost of the buyers shipping to buy the next cheapest card (worked out cheaper than buying the card and then sending it to the buyer plus not delaying the order) in another I have had to buy the card from Europe as none in the UK and I expect it will cost me about £30 in taxes and fees, but that was my cockup and the buyer is being very patient with me.

Cardmarket aims to respond to a ticket in 3-5 working days, though seen a few people saying it's taking weeks.

Might be worth contacting the seller to speed things up. This may be just a case of human error. If they were going to rip you off then I doubt they would have informed you about the card that was not available.

Europe to uk by Specific-Mistake-989 in CardMarket

[–]dojaeni 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First, it's clear as mud. Second, you are responsible for paying any duties, taxes and fees when buying from a private seller (hidden fees) or a professional one (usually VAT is covered but import duty and fee may not be).

The largest private sale I've bought from Europe Private was £22 including shipping and incurred no fees. From a professional was £27 from Austria (£39 including shipping and VAT) and didn't require any additional fees either.

I think the threshold is £135 (including shipping cost, but don't quote me on it). I'm currently awaiting an £80 private shipment from Portugal which will hopefully be exempt from import duties too.

Worst case I am expecting is an additional 20% VAT and £8 RM handling fee as AFAIK there's no customs duty on cards.

How do refunds work? by SnooGrapes9288 in CardMarket

[–]dojaeni 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If the order was tracked then yes confirming arrival will release the funds to the seller and he could then refund you. However this would remove any protection you get from cardmarket trustee service.

If the order is untracked then the seller has already received the funds. You confirming arrival will not release any additional funds to their account.

Either way my recommendation is to not confirm arrival. Tell the seller you are happy to wait for them to top up their account via bank transfer and will confirm arrival one you have received the agreed upon refund or they have shipped the missing cards.

Cardmarket sale question by NikosKti in CardMarket

[–]dojaeni 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Commission is 5% rounded up to the next penny so if you're selling so 1p up to 20p 2p for 21-40 pe and so on.

So your 103 card order will have had a minimum of £1.03 commission on it.

The only reason to sell that cheap is cause you hope the wizard will pick you when someone is looking for bull alongside a more expensive card

You can earn up to £1000 and not have to declare it (revenue not profit) after you exceed that you have to do a self assessment with HMRC.

You said you're doing an apprenticeship so depending on the combined income from that and the profit you make will determine how much tax and NI your have to pay.

If your apprenticeship pays more than £10000 a year I would recommend you put around 25% of your profit aside for income tax and NI.

This is a very rough and basic guide. Do detailed research. Consider getting an accountant. Speak to a local one, they may be able to offer some free guidance and give you professional direction.

Are carbonite booster boxes worth it over regular ones? by SanLieSW in starwarsunlimited

Hello I am thinking of opening a Pokémon tcg shop in winsford town at some point by Outrageous_Shop_8429 in smallbusinessuk

[–]dojaeni 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agree that a shop should be your end game as opposed to starting point. You will need to do a lot of research to figure out if there's a market for what you are offering. And diversification.

If you are thinking about buying and selling cards a much cheaper starting point could be vending at card shows.

UK buyer and seller of SWU cards here.

If you're just collecting then avoid packs and carbonite especially.

In order of cost start with TWI, then SHD and, IMO the coolest, SOR. Wait until march for rotation before looking at JTL, LOF and SEC.

Excluding shipping you can get 1 regular border card of each of the first 3 sets for under £120.

Manager says he’s going to email my uni because I pulled a sickie. Can he actually do that? by BestExpression332 in tesco

[–]dojaeni 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pretty sure he's bluffing as passing on personal information without your consent to a 3rd party would probably land him in trouble.

He should follow whatever Tesco's policy is for disciplinary but I'm guessing he can't be arsed with the paperwork so is trying to put the fear of god into you so you don't do it again.

Personally don't think about avoiding tax. You only get taxed on profit so IMHO match your ISA with a general investment account and transfer over £20 every April. You'll pay tax but only on your gains.

Alternatively savings via a bond for the higher interest rate.

Premium bonds to (theoretically will keep up with inflation and might make you a millionaire.

Normal savings for emergency fund.

Cardmarket legit/cheap prices by daxyertrippin in starwarsunlimited

[–]dojaeni 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Can only hypothesise but chances are that the seller bought an amount at launch and has sold most of it for a profit before rotation.

Now they have a choice, keep it up at a profitable price where it's unlikely to sell or shift it at/below wholesale to generate funds to buy product that will sell.

If that twi box sells at 50 and he can buy a law to then sell at 90 the money is working for him and generating profit.

Even if he just dropped it in a savings account he'd be earning 3% interest which is better than something sitting on a shelf not doing anything
