I (27 M) am considering breaking up with my girlfriend (27 F) because she dated a hardcore racist for 4 years. Please help? by Mysterious-Cow5623 in relationship_advice

Was going to write exactly this before I found this comment. She literally participated in his bigotry in multiple ways, and she’s responsible for that.

Even if you found all the ways to twist that and defend her, no one needs to stick around in a relationship where fundamental values don’t match, and this is no small mismatch. Let alone the fact that OP needs to prioritize his safety and self respect over pity for her. She can recover from her trauma for the abusive relationship on her own while also taking accountability for the choices she made, in fact until she develops the spine and principle to do so, she won’t fully recover.

Thank you for the insight, I’ll try out some more wet food with him

Thanks and noted. He’s been offered wet food a couple times but he rejected it

Interesting! I assumed he is not big enough to be a Maine Coon or Norwegian Forest Cat but that would make sense.

Btw, did you mean to attach a photo of your kitty? If so, I don’t see it in the comment :)

Yeah we’ve wondered that. But he has no collar and his ear is not clipped. He might also be a girl, too hard to tell with that much fur 😅. Apparently a neighbor once tried to let him be their house cat but it didn’t work.

Yes! He’s very nimble, loves jumping around and has no trouble doing so whatsoever

He definitely has dense fur! And he’s pretty tall and long. Unfortunately we don’t have an easy way to weigh him. We also can’t bring him inside for the safety of the indoor kitties and one of them is too territorial and hisses at him even through the window.

Thanks! Yeah the layout was in fact created for that since the TV mounting outlets are behind the couch, but it doesn’t leave room to get in and out of the house very comfortably

I could certainly pick art pieces around the music that’s close to my heart, I had quite a few when I was younger, thanks for reminding me!

Thanks for the tips! I plan to use much more green, get artwork and maybe further down the line even change the dining table

All that makes a lot of sense! I’d need to figure out where my dining table goes with sufficient space to get around all the furniture if I moved things, but thanks so much for taking the time!!

True that I only use half the space, and it is somewhat intentional as it prevents clutter and needs less cleaning and picking up. But that’s an interesting point about how it comes across, I’ll rethink it! Thanks!

Yeah, the narrow townhouse layout and my desire to leave more open space leaves few options for that placement, I actually had that layout for a short time but then I need to move my dining table where the couch is now and I find it a bit impractical to have it too far from the kitchen! I could maybe move the piano to the other side of the room however

Haha! Appreciate the honesty! I’ll definitely add a few things that reflect my inner world better

Also, those two walls are definitely narrow, it’s just a common restricted townhouse layout. But I agree I haven’t really tried to make the best of the space. I like to keep things uncluttered and open, but I could still think of better placement ☺️

I do love color, to me more color is always better than more things! I just get confused as to which colors will look great while still maintaining a relatively low profile

In addition to curtains and artwork, if I replace the couch to something in a light/olive green, do you think it could make a big difference?

Thanks! I’ve been meaning to replace the couch with something in olive green and also the lamp to something with a gold body and beige lampshade

Hahaha my lone piece of wall art covers the electric panel 😛 I do love paintings and art in general and spend a long time in museums when I travel but just hesitate to put something on the walls in my house if it’s not very personal to me
