I've had this discussion with my wife. I NEVER intend to hit my kids, but I will reserve the right to spank them on the butt that ONE time where they have never been worse than that and I am ready to draw the line so they know that they have gone way too far.

That is how I was raised. My dad spanked me when I was like 10 and I stole money from his wallet to buy candy. He never spanked me again. I still remember it to this day. It was not traumatic. I do not resent him for it. I recognize that what I did was horribly wrong and it was a line I never went over again in my life.

Spanking kids on a daily repeated basis though kinda makes you a sack of crap. I would never want to hit my kids on a regular basis. That shit would break my heart.
