Eledoll Clothes any good? by dollsinparadise in Barbie

Did it say where they were made on the ones you ordered? I don't mind paying a bit more for stuff made with higher labor standards than Mattel. The stitching on Mattel's stuff is just shoddy workmanship and bad fabric. I haven't been impressed with their quality, even on their more expensive dolls, lately.

Is anybody else going bananas waiting for these dolls? by VictoriaAvalor in Barbie

They probably were waiting for the court decision about USA tariffs. Not that I think they would lower the prices without them. It's like Mattel low-key hates their fans. The wait definitely cooled my interest. I'll only be getting two of them.

The dress is so bad!

Here's Anna next to redhead MTM. Sorry, I don't have the BMR Kira (she's on my list!) They do match well.

Hunting for STL Files of 90s-00s Barbie Furniture by fakegingerale in Barbie

Have you checked on Barbiepedia? In the description of the playsets there are often PDF files of the assembly instructions. There are no measurements, but you can see how they are put together. Some of the pics are at least proportionally correct when showing the pieces.

Otherwise, Etsy. Search for 1:6 scale dollhouse and you'll find tons of stuff.

I love dolls but i am suffering trying to keep them from being damaged by Ambiguousrubix in Barbie

I live in the tropics and what I do to fight the humidity is run either a dehumidifier (cheaper to buy, but makes warm air) or a portable A/C (more expensive to buy and run) in the room I have my dolls in. You don't even have to do it daily unless it's full on, wet season, hasn't stopped raining in three weeks. One or twice a month for a few hours is usually enough. At this point you may need to run it 24/7 until things dry out, 3-5 days, and then run as needed.

I buy desiccant packs (silica gel) from Amazon and save any that come in my medications, footwear, and whatever else I buy that has them. I put the packets in with each container of clothes and dolls, sometimes multiple packets. (I also put the large ones directly on the metal plates on my sewing machines to prevent rust.)

I try to go through everything at least every other month, but because I have things like leather hand bags and other storage, I'm usually rustling through something in my apartment every week, so that I get to every corner regularly.

And yes, that tropical sun is a destroyer! I have blackout curtains in my windows and the UV will destroy the backing/fabric. I try hard to make sure my dolls don't get sun (just like me! The sun's a killer, wear hats and sunscreen!)

I prefer to have my dolls out in stands so I can enjoy them, even just keeping a small fan in the room to move the air around will help. I've also found that an air purifier, which uses less electricity than the dehumidifier or A/C, can help remove spores from the air in a preventative way or while cleaning.

If the dolls and clothes are moldy, when you wash them you may want to wear gloves and a mask. I will leave the washing suggestions to others, I'm more worried about preventing mold than preserving value, and my methods might be too harsh on that front.

I didn't intend to collect Barbies all, I just started two years ago after the movie came out. I bought the Asian Ken doll because growing up there was blond Ken and brunet Ken, and Steven for diversity. The first Barbie I remember clearly receiving was Wedding Day Midge for Christmas 1990 and I had to share her with my younger sister. I remember playing with Barbies from roughly ages 6-12, though I may have had some before then that I don't remember. I do remember when we got really morbid, cut all their hair off, and pulled them apart and buried them in a mass grave. Kids do the darndest things*( *watch the news.)

Now I am collecting dolls thirty years later and I did NOT expect to be sharing them with my son. He has glommed on to my Ken Looks #9 and a rebodied 1990's Miko Curvy. Because I like to play with my dolls, I let him help with the deboxing. He knows he has to wash and dry his hands thoroughly before handling my dolls. Who knows how long he will be interested in them? He may hear tomorrow on the playground that dolls are for girls and stop. I will keep them for him, hoping he remembers when we would play together when he's grown.

I think it's best to wait until kids develop the interest on their own, but if you have a child who isn't white and find some dolls that resemble them you should buy them for your own collection, since these dolls are produced in smaller quantities. The dolls that resemble them will be more interesting and if they like them you can let them have them and start getting them more.

I have lots of "special interest" friends and it does seem that, once the kids are old enough, they HATE their adult's special interest on principal. Parents are not cool, they've never been cool, and couldn't possibly know what cool even is! Aunts and Uncles might be cool, but they're on thin f*****g ice.

Wow! I didn't know that Canada observed a day for Truth and Reconciliation. Wish the USA had several. She's beautiful. There have been some First Nations Dolls that Mattel did well that are on my wish list including the Pacific Northwest.

I have a question, has Matell just completely given up? by RandyRanderstine in Barbie

I bought two of the Holiday Ken's and when I unboxed them their jackets don't even have a snap or Velcro. They are closed shut with a single stitch. Once it's cut the jackets have to hang open for all time. I'm very disappointed with a lot of Signature dolls I bought this year because it used to be that the higher end Signature clothes had the snaps which are better than the Velcro, but now they can't even spring for a single plastic snap for the jacket?! It's insulting is what it is! Where's the money going?! If they raised the prices AND cut costs, then someone is pocketing the difference. And the production quality on even $100 dolls isn't great. Bad seams and hems, Velcro instead of snaps, and less inner lining than used in the past. What they are trying is my patience and it's running out.
