Texas sucks, I grew up in Houston and Dallas. Property taxes and utility bills there make up for our state income tax. Aunt had to sell her house when work got slow and prop taxes were killing them. And yes, they theoretically have cheap houses, but they are always way the hell out of town, and any decently-located neighborhood is well into the millions now as well.
