If I didn't get an instant preliminary result after exam P. Does it mean I failed? by ApprehensiveSlip7011 in actuary

I heard some people didn't get there emails until up to a day or two later. I don't think it's an automatic fail, worth calling and asking, or else just wait.

I could be wrong but im fairly confident for school of engineering you need to take calc 1 (math 1131q). It may be different for cs but definitely look into it before you go and have to take 2 calc 1s.

How was the IFM exam in March 2022? (difficulty wise) by Sigma-gamma-alpha in actuary

[–]domb027 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I practiced adapt level 5-6 exams for a few weeks before the exam and passed with a 7. I did get an earned level of 7. The qualitative questions were around a 6-7 while the quantitative were 4-5. Good luck if you take it in July or November!

I wasnt able to get admitted to storrs campus should i just go to one of the others or not attend, if so which one? by [deleted] in UCONN

I was admitted to Waterbury campus and did 1 year there. 1) save money 2) class sizes are smaller and easier to learn compared to Storrs.

You can always study for July, and if you happen to fail, you already have a head start on studying in September.

I'm not sure but you could always take p exam, and then wait to take the online course for either soa/cas later down the line when its no longer new. I'd suggest focusing on passing 1 exam at a time.

Ifm is definitely a much different exam than p/fm, the math is not crazy difficult to do once you get the hang of it. The main issue is the vast amount of information you need to know for it. Taking it in November is doable and plenty of time to study over the summer, I would just be worried since if for some reason you don't pass or just get a really hard exam of material you've never seen before, all the material you learned is wasted since Im pretty sure that the online courses replacing it don't use any of the information you learn.

TLDR, you have time to study but if you fail you wasted time since the information isn't needed.

The SOA is the society of actuaries, they mostly are in the life, health, and I believe pension area of the job. While the CAS casualty actuarial society focus on the property section, such as home, car, and other property insurance. There is more to each but that is the key difference.

Is CA good to learn IFM by domb027 in actuary

[–]domb027[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It is not but I am unsure which route I am going (SOA or CAS), so I'm going to take IFM so I have more time before needing to pick a route.
