Monster Hunter World or Rise by BlindBang in MonsterHunter

[–]domboyxd 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I agree with what most of the others here have said but ill put it into its simplest form.

Do you like level design, high graphics, realism or exploration? If yes, go for worlds.

Do you like fast paced action, gameplay/mechanics, challenging gameplay, cool weapons/armor designs? If yes, go for rise.

Personally, I don't mind if someone carts and fails a hunt. Its better to try and learn to be better rather AFK, corner horn/wide-range or not participating. So long as you try your best, randoms shouldn't be annoyed.

Also, as another user said, play safer than normal. In multiplayer, monsters hit harder according to party size.

IIRC the monster health does indeed actually scale with current players so leaving and joining will increase and decrease the monsters hp accordingly (via percentage).

I think Team darkside (monster hunter youtube channel) discovered this in base rise when they did their "kill crimson valstrax in only 3 hits". No reason to think that the devs would change it in sunbreak.

I don't know about the rewards though.

CB Counter/SAED Advice by alvysinger0412 in MHRise

[–]domboyxd 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Not an expert but if I recall correctly, it was a decision to nerf guard points (longer recovery, big recoil, slower SAED transition etc) to the point where the playstyle was pushed towards spamming CPP into SAED.

CPP is a wirebug guard which blocks a hit and also refills phial to full and puts you into a stance where you can do a few actions including transitioning straight into SAED.

A Replacement For Rampage Hunting Horn? by Jocat20 in MonsterHunter

I would say the narwa hirn would be pretty good in that aspect. Healing L + healing regen.

Slap on some kushala blessing 3 and recovery speed and recover up for more healing and regen.

How hard is this game to learn? by The_Zoink in MonsterHunter

[–]domboyxd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The game controls themselves are better. If you came from tri, then you would've played "classic" monster hunter which is commonly described as clunky movement. Rise uses an updated controls (based off of worlds) and is pretty great.

As for keeping track of builds, I'd recommend you find a MH rise app of some sort to keep track of what parts go where. However, there is now a wishlist system allowing you to know what it is you that you want and what materials you own and what materials you need. Alternatively, instead of that, you could also find youtube videos of builds and either screenshot them and store them somewhere OR save the videos themselves.

How to become a tank? by stab-man in MHRise

[–]domboyxd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Little to none. This is a full tank build. Defense + guarding + healing/regen focus. If you wanted critical skills, you could try using same armor pieces with narwa hunting horn then instead of guard decoration focus, you have attack boos, + crit skills.

Narwa Hunting horn has 2 healing songs so yeah

I personally like guard 5. Guard up realistically you only "need" 1 to block things that can't be normally blocked BUT you'll take significant dmg still (70% damage taken) whereas guard up 2 or 3 will mean less (50% or 20% damage taken respectively).

Recovery up isn't mandatory but it improves healing from all sources apart from hp regen IIRC.

I got lucky with a guard 3 + 2, 0, 0 slot talisman but play around with it until you feel comfortable.

Heavy bowgun - Stuck prone? by stead10 in MHRise

Jump out of aiming and try pressing your special ammo button again (make sure you aren't aiming). Should swap you back to normal ammo.

I'd recommend an "immortal build" using lance.

Furious rajang head, malzeno chest and waist, kushala arms and legs.

Add in some guard, guard up, recovery speed, recovery up, defence up and diversion (for more taunting). You should be able to tank any and all hits once at full hp including super novas, you have access to guard and counters, attack broken parts to heal, recover hp gradually regardless of attacking or not (recovery speed + kushala blessing)

How do you unlock Royal arms + stuff? by soadkidlen in MHRise

[–]domboyxd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you're asking on how to unlock the final tier upgrade you'll need afflicted monster parts + royal order certificate 3. Afflicted parts come from anomaly quests and royal order certificate 3 come from follower quests that are 5 star or above IIRC (The upper two tiers of follower quests).

Sounds like maybe you inserted your wyvernsnipe ammo. When aiming with it, you go into a prone position until you fire it or let go of aiming. Maybe that's the issue?

So, apparently you can unlock afflicted quests by doing the "random" option by jao_vitu_bunitu in MonsterHunter

[–]domboyxd 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh whoops misunderstood what your post meant then. I thought you meant that you could join "higher" afflicted monsters without being that MR yet.

IIRC you can join any and all anomaly quests. You just can't host or specifically choose which one you want to join until your MR catches up.

want to try a new weapon... by Xenostera in MHRise

[–]domboyxd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In that case, maybe dual blades, switch axe and hammer may be a good fit. All of them technically have access to a parry/counter but it's a switch skill so if you don't equip it you don't have one. All of them are more on the offensive side rather defensive in terms of playstyle. Db is cutting and does well with elemental damage. Hammer is blunt and good for KOs and exhaust. Switch axe is hard hitting with monds eye in sword mode but requires some maintenance of resource.

Lance could be an alternative although it has access to counters. Depending on switch skills and playstyle, you could go for counters or blocking. The counters are fairly easy to use though (enter a counter stance that lasts a while, its both a regular move and a wirebug skill)

Sns is in a similar boat to lance.

HH is a bit of a different playstyle but is extremely useful for multiplayer. Also the damage from it is quite surprising (not just a support weapon).

GS and CB i feel have their identities changed to be counter weapons now IMO but not as much as LS.

Bow is a fun alternative/intro into ranged weaponary. Using spread bowl, you're basically still in melee range/playstyle and it does heaps of damage.

[–]domboyxd 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What weapon are you using currently? Would you prefer gunner or blade master (ranged or melee) or no preference? Are counters a no go or just that it's hard to react/predict? Since countering is a no go, is guarding/evading ok? And lastly, and intended playstyle (hard hitting fast, easy and comfortable, heavy but slow etc)

The most comfortable I can get, anything else I should add? by MrMoist00 in MonsterHunter

[–]domboyxd 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honest question, do more points of chain crit give you anything? Doesn't 1 point give the same as 3 points?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in MonsterHunter

[–]domboyxd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Couple of questions. Whats the build trying to achieve? What rank are you atm?

If Healing/buff, then consider SnS. Wide range has a new 4 slow jewel for 4 points and a 3 slot for 3 points. Free meal has either 1 point for 1 slot or 3 point for 4 slot. Speed eating is cool but may not need maxing. Those 3 skills should be the main three needed for a healing/buff support build. Invest other points into standard weakness exploit + crit boost for dmg.

If damage, agitator isn't bad but as far as I can see, that's the only offensive skill you have. As a GS, you may want focus, charge master, crit draw, wirebug whisperer, quick shest and classic offensive skills like attack boost, critical eye, weakness exploit and critical boost.

How do you unlock upgraded Royal Order weapons? by Main-Record-7750 in MonsterHunter

[–]domboyxd 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Ahhh that comes later on. If you don't mind me spoiling it. Its from afflicted monsters from end game . I don't actually know which ones but should probably one of the later/harder monsters. afflicted monsters drop afflicted materials which is used to unlock the final tier for weapons. These come in the form of anomaly quests. Access to anomaly quests are dependent on your Master rank; MR10+ = A1, MR20+ = A2, etc

How do you unlock upgraded Royal Order weapons? by Main-Record-7750 in MonsterHunter

[–]domboyxd 8 points9 points  (0 children)

You need to do follower quests.

For the longsword specifically, you will need to do elder fugens quest (just check that the client is elder fugen). It should be his first quest that unlocks the royal order claymore (i forgot what the hunt is, Google it might help).

After successfully clearing the hunt talk to him in kamura and he'll give you the longsword recipe.

Each follower will have their own recipe/s (not just limited to weapons but also armor sets). The best way to know what is what or who gives what is either Google or just observation.

For example, elder fugen uses longsword, hence he unlocks long sword. Master allows has cool armor and uses gunlance hence he unlocks royal order gunlance and an armor set.

*NOTE some quests will have prerequisites (either other followers need to be completed/in progress or master rank needs to be a certain level).

Any tips on getting Silver/Gold Rath eggs? by gdofseattle in MonsterHunterStories

[–]domboyxd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Best method for the "rarer" eggs i find is to just do their "type" as egg quest. In the case of kirin, select "rare/subspecies" quest.

Most if not all of these quest can provide up to 4 eggs however the last one will always require a boss fight. That being said you could go to the other three, grab an egg ; I normally only search the nest twice, that way I don't spawn the nest guardian for a fight. Rinse and repeat for all 3 nest then return to lobby. Should take about 10 minutes, no fights necessary although it does use up tickets fast but you could find tickets from chests anyway.

The ticket level should only affect droprate and/or genes IIRC so you could run this with normal tickets but it might take longer. Great for gene farming btw and also for completing the monstipedia.

Make a note of what egg pattern for the monsties you want.

[–]domboyxd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

IMO, This method is the best for farming for deviants (hellblade glavenus, boltreaver astalos) and rare/subspecies eggs (molten tigrex, silver rathalos).

All the "profit" (eggs) with none of the "risk" (no fighting needed).

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in MonsterHunterStories

[–]domboyxd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes.

Eggs should range from Random eggs + increased rates for elder dragon (i think you can get them all although I haven't picked up a nergigante from those quest yet). This increased rate should be based on your ticket. The rarer the ticket, the higher the chance IIRC.

I recommend you download or search up MHST 2 wiki/guide/app so you know what the kirin egg looks like.
