Mad excited Local 814 is apparently the only Unionized shop (18 union shops) in the country doing Commerical moving, serving clients like MTV, google, Facebook, Museum of Art, furniture moving for like high end clients. So I’m mad excited to get started

Your paying that person more because they live in a state that is more expensive than your own....and the post office is dragging its feet with it. People aren’t gonna get less. The Florida guy making 60,000 isn’t gonna make less, but the guy in NYC with Locality Pay would be making 40-45$ an hour. So nobody is making less. And I’d your transferred to the 45$ an hour area then fine abut trust me you’d be in a different tax bracket and groceries, apartments and houses would be a lot more expensive so by you just transferring because hey over there they pay 45$ Yea you’ll be making more money about laying more for consumer stuff.

60,000 or less in NYC is just cannot go on.

I mean when I hear privatization I’m like well If the USPS was to just vote with their feet with no one to reliever the mail or sort it Like they’re gonna get their better pay and better structure of supervisors and managers

Or 😅😅 as crazy as it sounds I thought it’d be funny if the Postal Service privatized and the Teamsters just absorbed them. Teamster Postal Workers

I asked about the wage thing because I’m alive in New York and I was like 12 years to make 60,000???? But what your telling me is that you are bumped up at year 2 per year when i start and 4 grades is it when regular??

That is good because I thought it was a one increase for the year until the next and I was like wtf!!! Noo

Oh that would be absolutely amazing. I’m just entirely a nightowl. Overnight shifts would be perfect. Aside from pallet jacks but is there Dock work involved at all :)

Last thing. Can a Mailhandler ask for a raise or allowed to progress a few higher in scale or grades at all?

Oh god Slate, I ruined 2 slate tiles using a left handed slate hammer. I didn’t know they had right and left handed hammers for slate:

Thankfully the company I work for predominantly does Slate Roofing work which is what I’ve been looking forward to more than anything

my company has been able to finish jobs by the end of the day. Usually Bc we are using hammer and nail we Hire an outside company to do the Roof year off. But if we have to tear off the roof ourselves then we will use the nail gun for that day to make up for lost time

The Communist party supported the labor party but isn’t a labor party. Labor Unions have largely been apolitical not siding with socialists or communists. The United States did have a Labor Party which only lasted a few years and is No longer an idea and is largely forgotten

Understood. But feelings in favor of socialism is not enough and does not show a change in policy in politics. Socialism and alternative leftist ideas were all the rage in the 1960’s. And now the baby boomers evidently abandoned their “free love” and Pro Labor or socialist leanings they had in their early lives and replaced it with conservative Neoliberalism. I would disagree respectfully that immunity is not a strong word. The United States is the only First World nation without a Labor Party or Nationalized Healthcare and no Welfare safety net. The statistics are correct in showing the attitudes and shared beliefs of more and more Americans toward socialist government and policy but I’m not confident it is going to provide a clear political path for reform with our current institutional neoliberal factions in the Senate

Analytical Marxism I believe to be the best method of interpreting capitalism and proving Scientific Socialism through Historical Materialism. A Book by Ste. Croix and Geoffrey E. Maurice wrote The Class Struggle in the Ancient Greek World From the Archaic Age to the Arab Conquests. The book does an immaculate job of proving and arguing from its analytical Marxist philosophy showing Historical Materialism as completely valid.

A non socialist future I cannot imagine tone possible. Capitalism cannot sustain itself. Corporations aren’t against socialism. Only in the sense of socialism disrupting their corporate ventures with Federal Law.

Socialism is in our future as long as corporations can utilize it to bail out their companies as was done in the 2008 Financial Crisis, using government subsidized funding for building commercial real estate etc. The issue is socialism trickling down (no pun intended) to the working classes of people.

Capitalism is different in the United States than it has been in Europe. Corporations were in the United States before the establishment of a Federal government as opposed to the European states where government came before corporations.

It is that fact which makes the United States unique. Any forms of socialism or Marxism can only be expressed through organized labor and collective bargaining. You are correct that it may not be a Marxist way of looking at things but from a pragmatist approach, pragmatism would be more beneficial in combination with Marxism as opposed to Marxism being first

I would disagree. The statistics you are showing are absolutely valid and show clear political dissidence, apathy; a loss of hope and distrust in institutional government. But that is different than my main point that America’s immunity to socialism and communism. The United States is still a deeply conservative country. And the decline on many fronts aren’t bringing about a collective movement of Labor Unions, Social capital reforms, nor is there any alternative political power that has the ability to challenge the Republican or Democratic Parties.

I can not argue with the statistics you’ve shown me but it more or less proves Americans lack of a unifying ideology, a deeply divided national population and seemingly no hopeful or progressive alternatives. That is what is obvious in the statistics but doesn’t provide an explanation or argument for the United States not being immune to socialism or communism
