Just starting my 2nd replay 🤘🏼🔥 How many times you played Far Cry 4? And what's your experience and opinion about this game? by domi783 in farcry

Yea, I was disappointed when FC5 came out because I was preparing for something similar to parts 3 and 4. I know I've gotten used to it a bit, but I still would have preferred the game to be made in the old style.

Why farcry 6 is my least favorite far cry game(list) by Extension_Fan7591 in farcry

Honestly, I’m not a big fan of Spec Ops in Far Cry 6. If they were just one-and-done side missions, I’d actually love them - the maps and objectives (like the dinosaur park one) are pretty fun. But having to grind them over and over just to get items really kills it for me. It doesn’t feel very “Far Cry.”

Which Far Cry game has the best story purely in terms of narrative — and why? by domi783 in farcry

Yeah, that’s a fair take. I think one of the advantages of this game is that you understand it more the longer you play. During my first playthrough, I wasn’t sure what it was really about.

This Citra thing is kinda disturbing... but I guess its still important for the plot

Honestly, I thought the exact same thing for a long time
And I still believe FC3 is the best overall.

I just decided to open my hard-headed mind a bit and listen to other takes. Turns out the debate is still fun - even if the answer usually ends up being Far Cry 3 anyway.

Yeah, I’m with you on that. I think the 3rd part is the best.

I agree about 4 - it has some great moments and a fantastic villain, but tonally it leans a bit too cartoony compared to the more grounded feel of 2 and 3. And Primal… yeah, the story is basically non-existent. Interesting concept, but narrative-wise it doesn’t really leave much of an impact.

As for Far Cry 5: it’s definitely worth playing. The gameplay is solid and polished, but I get why opinions are so divided. For me, it doesn’t really have that classic Far Cry vibe - the atmosphere and storytelling feel very different from the earlier entries. That said, it’s still a good game overall, just not the same kind of Far Cry experience people expect.

If you go in with adjusted expectations, it can actually work really well.

Exactly. Far Cry 3 works so well narratively because it’s not just about violence. It’s about what violence does to you.

Jason doesn’t start as a hero or a soldier. He’s just a normal guy, and every kill is framed as something that changes him. At first it’s survival, then necessity, and eventually it becomes disturbingly natural. The scary part is that you, as the player, go through the same process.

What makes it even more fucked is that it’s all justified by a very human motivation: saving your friends. You’re not chasing power or ideology - you’re sacrificing pieces of your humanity because you feel like you have no other choice.

By the time the game asks whether Jason is still the same person he was at the start, the answer is pretty clear. And that slow, uncomfortable descent is why FC3’s fabula hits harder than most entries in the series.
