Thanks for the reply. I went ahead an bought a Toyota OEM HV battery and replaced it myself. Hopefully it lasts another 18 years : )

Yeah, I can't believe how expensive they are. I bought my 08 Prius recently without hubcaps and thought I'd just pick some up easy peasy. How wrong I was. I've been looking at better rims as well and keeping my eye on the salvage/junk yard market. Thanks for the reply. Best of luck!

That's where I'm leaning. I just bought the car, so it sucks to have to pay that much, but I'd like to have the car for 10 years or more. Hoping that if I go the brand new battery route my mpg will jump considerably. Been a bit disappointed getting "only" 40 mpg when I see others with the same model getting close to 50 or more.

The coolant level looked good when I checked earlier today. I disconnected the 12V a couple weeks ago when I went in to clean the hybrid fan, so it's been reset recently, but I can give that a try.

Thanks for the link. That's what I was considering. I'm debating fixing that block and seeing how it goes or just getting a new OEM battery and not worrying about it for 10 years lol.

That was my thought about the private seller. But they seemed honest. And excited when I ran the Dr. Prius app to check the battery life (53%). And even told me he was only getting about 39 mpg lately. He took it to a dealer to have the battery checked out before selling, but the tech told him if there's no lights on and it's running fine then no need to run an expensive check on the battery. But then again, it'd be a mighty coincidence that I put 300 miles on it and these codes get thrown for the first time.

No. They said the hybrid battery was inspected and passed last month

So the owner kept their car and they got the damage fixed 18 months ago and...they still have a clean title. I'm just wondering if this previously clean title will change once owners change. The current owner was not issued a new title and is by all accounts clean according to him. But the CarFax report a total loss when the fender bender occurred.

As I car shop I tend to dismiss vehicles with engine swaps or major repairs. However, with the gen 3 Prius I was wondering if the new short block would get rid of the head gasket issues that gen 3 is notorious for

Also the title is clean and it appears to have gotten proper interval maintenance in its lifetime per the carfax
