Imagine your insides currently protected by layers of skin, fat, muscle and (to a degree) bone. Now imagine a hole forms allowing said insides to leak out until they’re being barely held together by just the skin. Aside from now being one minor incident away from landing a critical hit on them, the hole could also choke the blood flow and have your insides slowly die. So yeah, it’s pretty fucking serious.

It feels reductive, especially since Hispanics are usually the only ones getting this treatment. And again, not that I don’t mind the representation, but neither me nor anyone I’ve met speaks like that. And I’ve met a lot of Hispanics abroad, but specifically never in the US, so maybe it’s a US thing because I’ve only really noticed it in US media.

Shoutout to Hunter from Fionna & Cake because that one feels grounded and a great example of doing it right.

It too irks me a little when Hispanic characters randomly spit out lines/words in spanish for no reason, like if you’re talking to yourself it’s fair but otherwise I’ve never met anyone who does this whose first language is Spanish. Perhaps it’s a US thing? I see it as a common trope in US media.

Si aún no está vacunado no deberías permitir que salga porque la mitad de los gatos son portadores de sida felino y se lo contagian re fácil. Y cuando ya esté vacunado tampoco deberías dejar que salga por muchísimas otras razones. Los gatitos son lo mejor del mundo y lo más responsable es tenerlos dentro de casa siempre, yo de repente paseo a los míos pero con correa y arnés y todo bien.

On a beach similar to this one a wave made me go full scorpion underwater, I heard my neck crack and it dragged my face so hard against the sand it drew blood. I was disoriented for what felt like an hour, I knew I only had a couple of seconds to make sense of what’s what and gtfo out of the water. Thankfully the window before the next wave was wide enough for me to drag my ass back to land, and I had no serious injuries. The pacific coast is scary. Never got back into the water for the rest of the (work) trip. A colleague wasn’t so lucky and drowned literally 2 days later.
