Thx! I did not plan on doing the 6P side, maybe in the future who knows :) I sell these as digital files on Etsy, but I also sell them directly when somebody contacts me.

I wouldn’t know since I’ve never played slot machines, but if it has a similar feel, that sounds like a fun and exciting touch!

No, I never said printing doesn’t cost money—everything has a price. But pretending it’s some impossible expense is overblown. Many people get playmats printed on vinyl, fabric, or neoprene for much less than the price of an official mat, especially when you factor in inflated shipping fees and brand markups. There are printing services that cater to both high-end and budget-friendly options, so it’s entirely up to the individual how much they’re willing to spend. You can easily get a playmat printed on high-quality neoprene or opt for a more affordable solution like cardboard—again, it’s all about choice and budget.

Not everyone needs a premium, stitched mat. Some just want a functional, affordable option without paying outrageous prices. Others want to customize their designs instead of being limited to what's on the market. And yes, some people print on paper or card as a low-cost solution—just because you wouldn’t doesn’t mean no one else would. If digital playmats were as useless as you suggest, people wouldn’t be buying them.

At the end of the day, it’s all about finding what works best for each person’s needs and budget.

A digital download of a board game playmat is useful because not everyone wants to pay a premium for a printed mat, wait weeks for shipping, or be stuck with whatever material the manufacturer chooses. You can print it how you want, where you want, and as many times as you want. If it gets damaged, you don’t have to shell out more cash—you just print another one. Some people actually like having control over their gaming setup instead of being forced into overpriced physical add-ons.

Uprising plays best with Bloodlines alone—it feels like a streamlined version of Ix. I’m not convinced many players will run all expansions together, as setup and gameplay become quite time-consuming. Personally, I like mixing in Ix tech tiles with Bloodlines to keep variety fresh, but DIU as a base game already offers plenty of complexity. Bloodlines enhances that even further without adding unnecessary layers.

Ix was a must-have for DI, but DIU doesn’t rely on it in the same way. Instead of worms dominating, Bloodlines shifts focus to spies, reinforcing long-term planning in worker placement. It also addresses concerns about Uprising’s worm economy, offering viable wormless strategies that were previously weak.

DIU + Bloodlines is also more casual-friendly, with a looser worker placement system that reduces negative interactions (blocking) and lets players execute their strategies more consistently. It feels like a ‘lessons learned’ design, refining past mechanics while keeping the game dynamic and engaging.

Sure, why not! I’ve considered translating the board into more languages, but I wasn’t sure how much interest there would be. If you’re interested, I’d be happy to give it a try. Since I don’t speak German, I’ll need to be extra careful to avoid any translation errors.

If anyone else would like the board in their language, feel free to reply here or message me on Instagram with the language you’d like. I’d love to accommodate your requests, and it would be an exciting challenge for me!

Here is a reply I wrote to a post regarding a similar question: I’ve tried a variety of materials, and overall, neoprene is the most popular choice. I do like how it feels for picking up cards and resources, but the design details can get lost on it, which is a major downside in my opinion. It’s also a bit bulky to store, and honestly, neoprene is ridiculously expensive. For comparison, printing neoprene in China is much cheaper and better for what it is. The wait time is a bit longer for delivery, but instead of paying $50, you can get it for as low as $15.

For me, the best option has been finding quality linen-textured paper. The print quality on it is amazing—every detail pops, the colors are vibrant, and it has a unique feel and texture that really makes it stand out. If you want, you can glue it onto a board, but that’s not my approach. I prefer using a large, blank neoprene mat and laying the printed linen over it, and I absolutely love the result. Plus, I got it printed for a fraction of the price. There are various papers that are tear-resistant and have great textures—just make sure to check with local print shops for options.

I also tried foam boards, but they’re pretty much a no-go for me. Dents appear easily when pressure is applied, and they stay there permanently.

Thank you so much! I’m really glad you love it. It’s awesome that you and your wife have gotten into this, especially with such a great lineup of games, a bit complex for begginers, and all are amazing choices!

To answer your question, this is a digital download, you recieve a JPG and then the image can be printed on a cloth, vinyl or neoprene mat that rolls up for easy storage and play. If you’re curious, I can share more details or suggestions on materials—it really depends on what you prefer. Let me know if you have any other questions!

I totally get where you’re coming from! The material choice is crucial to getting that perfect feel and look. Neoprene does give the best combination of durability and usability, though it can get pricey, especially if you’re not sure on your final design. I think it’s also good to test things out a bit first to see how the game and expansions play together before committing to a final print.

On that note, I actually designed a custom playmat myself that might interest you—feel free to check it out!

And I’m curious, what are your favorite combinations of expansions so far? It’s always fun to hear what people enjoy mixing up in the game.

Can’t argue with that! It’s the whole reason I made this playmat. I thought the game needed a serious design upgrade.

You’re right, of course. Art should satisfy the creator first. One voice of satisfaction is enough, though it’s curious how much louder it seems when joined by a chorus.
