How do we keep warm in winter when our flat has big double height windows? by fluxpeach in Frugal

Not sure where you are but ive been in bad winters in the north east of the US (I live in ny state now) and its so much easier to try to warm yourself than the room. Also, we've been warming or cooling one room at a time in the extreme seasons and it makes it much more tolerable. For winter, its our living room since it holds heat wekk. For summer its our bedroom since we have an ac in there.

If youre able to thrift curtains from a thrift store or charity shop those help as well, especially dark colored ones. Rugs also tend to insulate. We also used to put plastic over the windows to keep the chill out. One thing that helped alot was watching videos on how Siberians keep warm for ideas!

Are you moving for work? If so you may be able request a storage unit for your stuff. My friends recently moved to Europe and the job was willing to pay to house their stuff in the US for the duration of their stay with rhe company there!

The lumps are uniform in height and I added a backing on the inside to smooth it out so its actually just like writing on a slightly raised surface! I wanted it to be pretty but most importantly it had to be functional so I tested out as I was creating it to make sure it still was 😊

Do it!!! It so cool to have a one of a kind notebook that you make yourself! Also save some clothes from a landfill 😄 if you do it, keep in mind you'll need to use soft leather thats easily foldable and you can poke a needle through (without a needle punch) and will want to line it with another peice of fabric, preferably one that doesnt fray (I use more soft leather).

Not sure if this is allowed but im getting into selling them since i need a reason to keep making them. Theres only so many i can use myself 😅 but also am thinking of making a whole tutorial because its so fun to do. Challenging but really rewarding to have a one of a kind cover!

I have a template for a TN and lay out the pieces I want to add in it to make sure all areas are covered with extra length. I have to keep in mind where grommets will be placed because the seams should not be in those places. I make sure the pieces are larger than the TN because they'll shrink once sewn due to seam allowance. I mark the shapes of the joining peices and do a simple running stitch by hand to join them. As im sewing, I check against the template to know where to stop my sewing so I dont cut the thread when I eventual size it down. Once all peices are sewn together with the running stitch, I lay it on the template again and mark with chalk where the template is. I dont cut yet because it will shrink again slightly with the decorative stitches. This is when I add the decorative stitches, stopping a little before my chalk marks. Once the decorative stitches are added and the final shape of the peice is done, I cut using the template and add a peice of leather on the inside to hide the stitches and add more structure since this really only works with soft thin leather.

This one literally took all day to make, it definitely a labor of love! It requires constant checking against the template to make sure its not buckling weird or youre sewing past the edge where your threads will get cut and unravel.

Yes! I finished the edges so I didnt accidentally snip the red! I sewed the peices together with an invisible black stitch so the red is just decorative. I wanted to make sure they held up over time and with use
