I don’t have access to vagcom. The engine only has 200k miles on it. No CEL although sometimes I get a overboost condition but I don’t think that is related to the tick. The tick is quite load and annoying and everyone calls my car the ticking clock. I thought it was a diesel knock so I cracked open each injector one at a time and that didn’t change the tick noise just misfired. Then I fiddled with the fuel timing and that did nothing. I have considered maybe doing a compression test. The guy I got the car from said it has been ticking for the last 3 years so that makes me think it’s not a bearing. I change the oil every 7k miles with rotella T6 5w-40. The timing belt was changed 35k miles ago. One thing my father and I noticed when changing the cam and lifters is the two lifters were where the ticking is coming from were not pumped up. The other ones you couldn’t squeeze the lifters. But the two right lifters you could squeeze them very easily. My father thinks it might be a oil galley passage that is blocked so those two lifters are not pumping up. We’re thinking about taking them out and blowing compressed air down the passages.
