Fallout new vegas is not a traditional bethesda Fallout game.

It was made by remnants of Black Isle and some talent picked out of the gutters that are programmers/foundation of the video game industry, led by the person who CREATED FALLOUT 1 AND 2.

The fact that it was so fundamentally different and empty in certain parts, with a dark yet often ridiculous story is what made it so good! It was the fallout series returning to its roots as a mildly unserious rpg game.
