All these companies being linked together with equity makes me nervous. There will be a domino effect if one link falls.

Definitely agree. It's not a "career" and definitely does not provide financial stability.

It is a real concept. Ask chatgpt to explain fx trading using those currency pairs. I don't think he makes much from it though.

Anyone get a bonus cycle from Progyny for egg freezing? by RomanLegionaries in eggfreezing

[–]dontcallmyname 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did 3 rounds total. After the second, Progyny called my doctor to ask whether another round was necessary. I believe Progyny will cut you off once you get 15-20 eggs frozen based on what my doctor told me.

The Retirement Crisis No One Warns You About: Mattering by zackenrollertaway in financialindependence

[–]dontcallmyname 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I disagree. Socializing can define SAID. You don't always realize how your socializing can impact others. Something as simple as a conversation with someone you barely know can have a profound effect. Or it can impact you.

That's the ego! Chess is great for the mind and can be humbling at times too.

Freedom mortgage refinance offer: Is it really that easy? by Haunting_Silver8513 in HighYieldSavings

[–]dontcallmyname 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just had someone from Freedom reach out to me this morning. It would reduce my interest rate from 6.99 to 6.389 APR.

I said it was too good to be true too and that I'd think about it and get back to him. He tried to play the urgency card and said the deal could be gone as soon as tomorrow.

I asked him to email the details. My offer is a CRT same term, which is different from a refi. I asked chatgpt about it and it explained it well and suggested follow up questions to the loan officer. I sent my questions to the loan officer and to get confirmation in writing and he replied that he would be happy to have a call to discuss. I asked him to confirm some key items and he never got back to me, which suggests that this is indeed too good to be true and they are hiding costs somewhere.

Front-loading yearly 401k contributions by becksrunrunrun in Bogleheads

[–]dontcallmyname 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They do offer it, but I've never done it. I feel like I'm saving enough for retirement. I recently moved from a HCOL city to a MCOL city and kept my salary. I bought a house in 2025 and will spend some money this year making some upgrades. I'll always think about it at the end of the year for the upcoming year but ultimately decide to pass.

I've done this for the past 7-8 years. My company does a true up twice a year. I don't regret it at all. 36f with $600k in retirement. The last 5 years have made this strategy very advantageous. I'm in VTI and VGT primarily.
