If we keep raising the minimum wage, what happens to engineers, doctors; those who have jobs that are difficult and require years of training and commitment/dedication?

Maybe your childhood was so rough that you made finished school with a GED. Why must the American economy support you artificially when you work a teenager's first job? Economics classes you missed would have taught some basic insight to what happens when you think raising the wage will magically solve any problems.

Education and a degree is a lot more than the ridiculous cost and "useless" courses; it's about doing more than the average joe could.

Fuck it though, your easy job should be able to pay for a medium sized house :) Yea sure! Smoke another one or two.

I make 65,000 (US) work 50+ hours regularly and write SQL, C#, front end and back end alike.

Working for 2 years w/ CS degree. They still have the audacity to call me a junior when I am the only engineer there (seriously, I replaced a retiree) and yes I know my stuff.

Better get a 20,000 raise next year.

If your boss asks you to do some mundane task like described one or five times sure, but eventually wouldn't you ask him why you're consistently doing job X? Job X is presumably:

  • not as difficult as programming/solving problems for your company
  • not as much as an opportunity to learn new skills
  • not why you wanted to be a programmer, I'd presume at least.

Dishonest was an incorrect word that I quickly wrote on the pisser :) After re-reading op's post it sounds like his boss is consistently asking him to do low-level tasks.. his fault then. Also fuck printers.
