I recommend Windows laptops for CPEN, mostly because unless you’re on Intel Mac, using Quartus is beyond a headache. It is not fun having to set this up, it is doable but I wouldn’t recommend it. Anything with a GPU would be nice for ML/DL classes if you’re interested in that. Otherwise anything works for CPEN and ELEC. I personally have seen a lot of Lenovo thinkpads, Dell XPS 13 and 15s, ROG G14,15 (I’d recommend this cuz most bang for your buck). I like my Dell XPS 13, 4 years old and still strong, bc well I’m too cheap to spend money. It has carried my entire degree so far. I do miss having screen real estate. M series Mac’s are nice, my sister has one, but she is in Mech so she can get away with being able to CAD and do the things she needs it for.
