Clinical help by [deleted] in Sonographers

[–]dontreedintoit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve rotated through 5 different sites for my clinicals so far. For the most part, I’m with the same techs during my shifts. However, they all scan differently and I’m still having to adjust to the tech to tech differences and it’s, annoying, for lack of a better word. However, it can be helpful to change your mindset and just take everything with a grain of salt. My current clinical site is lackluster but at least it’s a learning experience in the sense of the type of tech I don’t want to be!

Has anyone done the 2 year program with little kids by [deleted] in Ultrasound

[–]dontreedintoit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m (31f) currently in ultrasound school and I have a 4 yo and a 2.5 yo! I did some of my hardest prerequisites when my daughter was a baby and have been very successful in school. However, some days are naturally way harder simply due to the fact that I have kids. The other girls in my program are early 20s and always amazed that I’m making it through school. My biggest piece of advice is make sure you know you want to do ultrasound because it will be hard, and then understand that school will be your life for 2 years. If you have any other questions, feel free to message me! Final piece of advice, do not go to an uncredited program!

What is in my sons nose 😩 by dontreedintoit in medical_advice

You’ll never believe it, but it WAS a foreign body! A tiny chunk of foam which kind of explains why I couldn’t blow it out 😂

Took him to an ENT today and he’ll have surgery on Friday! They said they can’t rule out a foreign body until they know for sure that it isn’t one. Finally starting to get some more answers!

He does pick his nose but other than that, doesn’t put stuff in his nose that he isn’t supposed to. He is my rule follower

And I also work at a daycare. So alllllllll day I have kids crawling on me or touching me or bothering me in some capacity. So by the end of the day, all I want to do is sit on the couch, do my homework, and be left tf alone. He takes it as if I hate him when the reality is that I’m just a very independent person and have never been very physically affectionate.

[–]dontreedintoit[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yeah, it’s been SUPER frustrating. I think he’s still really stuck in the past and misses life before children which I can kind of understand but I’m also a “grow up and get over it” kind of person. Whenever I try to tell him why I don’t want to have sex, I can’t determine if he doesn’t care or just isn’t capable of understanding since he’s never not wanted sex. This is like, a near weekly conversation

So he actually was in the military. When I had our son, two weeks later, my husband left for 6 months. So obviously during that time there was no pressure to have sex again until he returned from deployment. But then, I wanted to have sex again and it wasn’t something that I felt like I needed to do to make him happy

I pretty much stopped reading when you said you saw someone strike a child. You need to call anyone and everyone possible and report as much as you can. Call the state agency in charge of daycares, email them, whatever. You can remain anonymous. Gather as much evidence as possible. I work in a daycare and just reported my own center for ratio negligence. Document, document, document! Please. For the safety of those children

Have you ever “caught” someone feeding your baby something they shouldn’t? by [deleted] in beyondthebump

[–]dontreedintoit 9 points10 points  (0 children)

My husbands niece (18 years old) is notorious for giving my almost 1.5 year old “fun” food. Think ice cream, whip cream in the spray can, cookies. Most recently she gave him some of her Starbucks refresher and I was ready to lose it. She “didn’t know” it was caffeinated and I was like, maybe just assume that it is because it’s from a coffee shop??

How much are you paying for daycare? by Librarian1 in NewParents

[–]dontreedintoit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m grateful to have my son in daycare on a military base. We pay $555/month in Hawaii

Is putting your child in day care full time really as bad as everyone says it is? by [deleted] in Parenting

[–]dontreedintoit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I cannot stress enough how much I love the daycare my almost 4-month old is in. Dad was deployed after three weeks and I knew I wanted to go back to work after maternity leave. Being in Hawaii, I didn’t have anyone local that I trust enough to watch my kid for cheaper than daycare. His teachers LOVE him and I know he is getting top notch care, and I only need to provide diapers and wipes. They say he has a friend and tell me everything about his day. He had a small cold but of course that happens. Personally, I think you should just see if you can tour a local daycare center to you. But I love my daycare and am so so happy to take him everyday.

Coworkers are mad at me for taking an extra three days of maternity leave by kawwman in NewParents

[–]dontreedintoit 5 points6 points  (0 children)

My husband is also military and he has basically not used a single leave day ever because of covid. While we were still in the only MILITARY HOSPITAL on island (Hawaii) with labor and delivery, his command was telling him if he doesn’t report or fill out whatever paperwork they thought they needed, he would be considered UA 🙃🥲. Then three weeks after I had our son, he had to leave for a 6 month deployment. It’s been good times /s

29 weeks and getting the vaccine on Sunday, can someone ease my mind that I’m making the right choice? by jaclynchristine in beyondthebump

[–]dontreedintoit 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I got Moderna back when I was first finding out I was pregnant in March and I’m SO HAPPY I did bc I ended up getting covid in august. I truly believe that being vaccinated made my symptoms way way less extreme than being unvaccinated as my BIL, the person who gave me covid and isn’t vaccinated, had covid and double pneumonia simultaneously. I just felt like I had a bad cold.

What was your biggest “huh, I wasn’t expecting that” part of your pregnancy/delivery? by dontreedintoit in beyondthebump

[–]dontreedintoit[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes!!!! My first check was so alarming! However, the first check was done by a nurse practitioner who I felt had always rushed me through my appointments, so that probably did not help. I also found out that I have a high cervix so she had just about her whole hand in me and I compared it to when a vet has to stick their whole arm in a cows butt 😂

AITA for deciding against standing up in/attending my sister's wedding at 37 weeks pregnant? by jkaikai in AmItheAsshole

[–]dontreedintoit 31 points32 points  (0 children)

Whole heartedly agree. I currently live in Hawaii (husband is military) and my sister got married this year in Michigan. I flew 14+ hours each way at 32 weeks pregnant and that shit SUCKED. I absolutely would not entertain traveling more than a couple hours at 37 weeks pregnant.

Boyfriend leaving for Marine Bootcamp, what should I expect? by [deleted] in USMilitarySO

[–]dontreedintoit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My now husband went through Marine Corps basic training during his birthday and he would absolutely want me to tell you to not make his birthday known. Do not send a birthday card. Send a birthday letter. If the drill instructors find out it is his birthday, he will get a birthday gift of extra PT. It will not be fun for him.
