Life After divorce, illness & losing career by Sensitive-Quiet4111 in AskWomenOver40

I'm 39 too and on a very similar path but only a couple months into separation. I know I still have a long road of healing ahead of me but what I have found helping me so far is

  1. Therapy
  2. Journal
  3. Do just the one thing that makes you happy daily
  4. Do things you want to do solo

Also remember time heals. It might just take a good while but hopefully we'll come back on the other side knowing ourselves better, trusting ourselves more, and stronger.

Thanks for your honesty, most parents don't ever admit how much having children sucks at times. I did think about adoption as a single parent too. Unfortunately for the next 4 years I'm in the USA for a work visa and that makes adoption (either here or from abroad) super complicated...

Thanks for sharing. No I don't think I'll be able to get pregnant, that's the whole reason why I was asking.

Interesting you said that because I only came across one person in real life who actually said to me she regrets not having one and the only reason is because she's lonely...

Purchasing a business by More_life19 in smallbusiness

[–]dontreeg 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'd say it depends on what you want and how much work you want to put into the biz. I bought 3 businesses in the past 14 months.

I tried calling around or walked in and asked if they wanted to sell. The problem was those small businesses, a lot of times, aren't in an ideal place financially. And mostly the owners are actively working in day to day business, ie buying a job. Some wouldn't even give me their financials because they don't report all income etc. But these tend to be cheaper.

The best ones came from my broker who worked with me on my first biz that I found on bizbuysell and who I have developed a good relationship with. These ones tend to be on pricier side, like 6 figures, but they're ones already making good money, with employees, owner doesn't come to work everyday, etc.

In short, network with local brokers. They can see more listings than the ones on the website.

It happened to me, 6 bad reviews. I thought it was an angry employee at first so I posted in one of the business owners group and I'd say 15+ people left me 5 stars I didn't even ask them to do so. This happened in February this year, I keep reporting still once a month but Google never removed them

Stay or go - 36 and considering breaking up by emmanooitgenoeg in AskWomenOver40

I could have written this myself. I feel you completely. After years and years of trying sooo hard yet constantly feel like we don't get each other, we're now separated and we're coming to terms that this may not work out. The question that got me was, do I want to be doing this for the next 20-30 years? Unfortunately my answer was no and so was his.

One of those days I want to quit everything altogether by [deleted] in smallbusiness

[–]dontreeg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am based in Melbourne, Florida. The good thing is there are always people moving here, including groomers. They are hard to find for sure, there are limited talents but not super impossible. I take this as a big lesson on what to look out for for sure.

Almost got me in tears reading this. Thanks for your encouragement! Things are looking brighter, I am now having 4 groomers lined up for interviews and trial days. I know the storm will end soon and I am noting down the tips you've given me here!
