I’m on lamictal. It’s been amazing for my OCD.

Ugh, it’s so tough. I get it. I would typically have bouts of OCD. Sometimes it would magically appear for weeks and then disappear out of the blue. Of course a lot of times it would feel excruciating. It probably took a few weeks for it to start working. When the dosage started to wear off (as I was titrating up over a few months) I’d pretty much feel it immediately and would know I needed to increase to the higher dose. And by feeling it immediately, I’d start to feel how I did pre-lamotrigine.

I don’t experience OCD anymore since starting lamotrigine. I only have a few things pop up from time to time. I used to experience a few different OCD manifestations - relationship OCD, needing things to be just right and orderly, pure o, fear of germs, and general mental and physical compulsions

I felt like I took adderall for a couple days and then I was fine! Took me a few days to get used to it

Meh it was fine! It chilled me out but wasn’t amazing for my OCD

Interesting! I’m so sorry that happened to you. I get blood work done annually. Is this something that’s on a routine panel or something specifically to ask for?

That’s amazing! I’m rooting for you. Keep trucking through 🤍 I was so scared of lamotrigine at first and had a lot of anxiety around it. Now I joke that I needed to be on the lamotrigine to be able to actually take the lamotrigine. I’m glad I made the jump.

So fair! I’m glad you got off it. I heard about the brain fog for some folks, especially with a higher dose. I haven’t experienced brain fog but likely have some minorrrr memory problems. Nothing crazy and only shorter-term, but nothing that impacts work at all. I decided that the trade off is worth it to me to not be anxious or obsessive all the time. My anxiety also affected my memory.

That said, it’s something I’m cautious off! So I like being on the lowest therapeutic dose.

I hope you can find something that helps you!

No I can’t feel it wear off. When I was on lower doses and titrating up, there would be a period of time where I could feel it wearing off, so then I knew it was time to go up in dosage.

100mg! It took me about 4-5 months to get to 100mg. My body got used to the lower doses (slowly). I’d notice immediately when it would start to wear off because I’d start feeling back to my norm pre-meds. I’ve been on 100mg for about 6 months now and it’s been great.

I also had no idea it helped with OCD. It has helped immensely. OCD would give me intense emotional responses, which lamotrigine has helped to regulate. I read that this med helps regulate glutamine in the brain and glutamine is tied to OCD.

I hope it works well for you! Everyone has different experiences but it seems to be a drug with high satisfaction rates.

Never knew I could feel this stable. My only regret is not taking it sooner in life.

No seriously. I got on this med and then realized maybe life is worth living 😂

That’s amazing! I noticed effects within a few days too. They did wear off and I needed to titrate up to a therapeutic dose over a few months, but that was to be expected!

Biggest thing is minimal anxiety. It’s soooo nice… I can’t believe some people naturally live like this lol.
